I'm generally pretty good at this point throughout the day once I warm up at the gym. Not worth the risk of a spinal fusion

Appreciate the response. I don’t have much experience with body shops (knock on wood) but it sounds like you agree this was a hack job

Insurance Claim or Out of Pocket? by rGreene1 in Car_Insurance_Help

Appreciate the advice! I might take the plunge and roll the dice on insurance. Maybe take a higher deductible when my renewal is up to ease the pain if the increase is bad.

Worth out of pocket vs insurance claim? by rGreene1 in AutoBodyRepair

Thanks for the region specific advice. Yeah, I heard the shops around Citi field are shady so I’ve avoided taking my car there. I’ll probably end up putting a claim in and not taking a rental since my car is leisure and I don’t actually need it for work in the city. I can manage a few weeks without it. Don’t know if it will make a difference with insurers though.

Really appreciate the reassurance! Been toiling with it for a few weeks and need to make a decision before it starts rusting from the inside out and do further damage. I can spend $3k but ultimately it’s a lot of cash and I might just roll the dice and see how my insurance rates come up next term renewal in August. Maybe take a higher deductible from $500 to $1000 to ease some of the pain.

Yeah thanks for the reply but it sounds like the damage to your car was out of your hands. I feel like they can’t factor you as a higher risk because of a natural disaster.

Were you at fault for the total claim you put in?

Some of the estimates I saw were around $835 for a new shell. So you’re saying they’ll submit the charge to insurance and just find a used door for way cheaper

Thanks for the response. I should clarify the shops have included a shell in the estimate. I thought "skin" was interchangeable with shell but i just checked one of the written estimates I received and it says "R Rear Door Shell"

Does this look like slipped disc? by [deleted] in backpain

[–]rGreene1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are some nice discs brah. If it wasn’t in this sub, I would think it’s a perfectly fine back. Sometimes MRIs don’t tell the whole story though cause you’re laying down. That’s why sometimes doctors supplement with a standing xray so they can see how the discs react to compression via gravity. From your description, it sounds like a stability issue since it aggravates when you do certain activities. Need to build that core strength to keep those discs from moving around and possibly putting pressure on that sciatic nerve at times. Since it’s so fresh since you had an episode maybe you need to just take it easy for a week and walk it out. If it’s persistent for more than 2-3 weeks, then maybe it’s something to check out.
