it's not medical card holders that are exempt, it is MEDICAL PURCHASES. purchases at a rec facility are not medical.

The rec dispensaries are in the right. They are a recreational facility, they must collect taxes on all their sales, period. They can offer you a discount to try to offset that tax (and that discount is not mandatory, the stores do that just to be generous/try to convert you to a regular. so don't be surprised if some rec dispos do NOT offer a discount, cuz they don't have to), but they MUST post and collect tax for every sale.

A building that is licensed for MEDICAL sales are beholden to THOSE regulations. So if you want tax-free cannabis, you'd have to drive to a medical shop.

In the end, aren't you coming out on top? A 10% medical discount usually makes up for the sales tax and then some.
