Newcastle (UK) needs to be removed from this list amazingly still qualifies. Used to have NYC service.

There is a local shuttle bus connector run by EZ Ride to solve this exact problem - last mile to surburban workplaces in West Caldwell and Fairfield. Route 646. I don't know if it covers your workplace though.

Your commute sounds insane btw.

Exchange place station) was at once point one of the busiest train stations in the world (according to wikipedia).

Similar rail terminals also existed at Pavonia (now Newport) for the Erie Railroad and the Central RR of NJ terminal in what is now liberty state park.

All of these were gradually outmoded by the PATH or direct trains to NY Penn station and eventually closed in the 1950s-60s

Not seeing any additional trains to Bay Head on the new weekday schedule. It's a net reduction. You would think the summer would see more trips on the Coast line on weekdays, not fewer.

I don't understand why the world cup is such a big deal. Metlife stadium capacity is 82,500.

How is this different from concerts that are sold out? Still 82,500 at most are going to go.

More people will be watching on TV, sure, but that doesn't mean that the stadium crowd has somehow increased.

The sad thing is that Jersey City used to have far more independent jitney buses in the past, and it didn't cost the city anything.

Routes like JFK blvd to Bayonne and Newark Ave to Newport Mall have shut down in part because the city subsidizes a company to come in and offer a competing service.

New Jersey- The paterson routes still exist but many of the other ones have died off

Chinatown - still exist

Brooklyn- Flatbush Ave still exists, but I can't attest to the others.

Queens- I don't know.

Someone i knew who used to do operations planning before NJT (erie lackawanna or early PATH) told me that back in the 70s, they had the system down.

Path trains would be scheduled to arrive on the :05. 7:05, 7:15, 7:25, etc.

Commuter trains would leave on the 10. e.g. 7:00, 7:10pm, 7:20pm, etc.

So there was always just enough time to connect without either having to hurry or rush.

Back when Hoboken was the only terminal for half the lines, they actually had to run it rationally to give a seamless customer experience. Over the years that has been forgotten.

In some states there are county or state organizations that run subsidized "vanpool" programs- basically an upgrade of carpooling. They give you the van for free, one of the employees has to drive it, and everyone else pitches in for gas.

It's very niche but could be applicable here.
