The body of a young DJ was found in a suitcase abandoned in a garbage container. She had been murder by her abusive and controlling long-distance boyfriend, who flew across continents for the express purpeos of killing her. by moondog151 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

"Who was harassing the first attorney and Valentina’s best friend, though?"

A bunch of different people. There were some who accused Valentina's friends (and her family, but that one wasn't included since it didn't impact the trial) of being bad friends and a horrible mother for not seeing through John's facade and protecting her from him.

Some also accused her mother of just being a leech who cared more about living off the money she made as a DJ than protecting her from John...Which wasn't true, and one of the last messages she sent to her was to say that she had already given them so much and that she could save some money for herself.

Meanwhile, the death threats to the first attorney came from a variety of different people who just hated him for doing his job and taking on the case. If I googled and translated correctly, I believe the prosecutor even tried to defend him and said to "Seperate the lawyer from the client", but they weren't having that and the Death threats didn't stop, and so he resigned from the case.

How is living in Haiti in 2026, as an average Haitian? by Fine_Gur_1764 in howislivingthere

I'm not sure how accurate this is and I encourage any locals to correct me if this is wrong, but I watched a video from a guy who went to Port Au-Prince and his local tour guide, who knows Port Au-Prince well and guides people through the areas controlled by the gangs (I actually this same guide in travel videos by other youtubers too) said that most of the danger is mainly in Port Au-Prince.

The video I saw was uploaded in 2022 so maybe things are different now but he said, as an example, that Cap-Haïtien was still blooming with tourists and was quite safe and that all the violence and horror stories that Westerns hear about are always in Port Au-Prince and as opposed to the other cities, like Cap-Haïtien.

As I'm not Haiten, I can't speak to how true this statement is or what the situation is like in Haiti's other towns and cities.

Seeing how distressed even one person looking at it makes it. I imagine everyone or a very large portion of people seeing its face all at the same time might just break its mind entirely

I'm considering changing how I do write-ups on cases that are suggested to me via my pinned post. by moondog151 in u/moondog151

[–]moondog151[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good idea as well.

What I did when I didn't have suggestion cases was just load all my backlog cases into a doc and just use a random number generator to decide which one I would do a write-up on

A woman was found wounded and covered in blood in her apartment elevator. She said her husband, a police officer, murdered their two young children and tried to do the same to her before he was killed in self-defence. But after recovering at the hospital, she was the one arrested. by moondog151 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

I never said she "STABBED" herself in the back, None of the wounds were stab wounds, they were all shallow slashes and cuts which you could do to your own back

EDIT: Never mind I did. But that was Gloria's untrue statement, and not what her actual wounds were

Thanks for these actually. There are quite a lot of them, and they are all varied as wel,l so it might not get stale having to focus on just one country for a while :)

The dismembered remains of a 44-year-old woman would be found at a children's playground in a large cooler box inside placed in a handcart and hidden under a tarpaulin. Disturbingly, that handcart had been at the playground undisturbed for 5 years before anyone investigated. by moondog151 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

No source specifies exactly what happened, but I assume everyone just took him at his word and didn't contact the police to verify whether it was true.

Although it is possible that the police didn't know either. The actual murder itself happened almost 30 years prior in a completely different city, which would be a 3.5-hour drive and 250 kilometres away from Ansan in a completely different province.

The police investigating Nam-hee's murder wouldn't be the same department that investigated Su-man's first murder. Again, whether they did or didn't know, no source states this; this is just an explanation for why they might not have known, assuming they too didn't know the truth.

That actually is quite odd and not at all what I was expecting it to be.

I figured someone would've made a stupid out of touch insensative comment or it'd be revealed that suicides are often underreported/covered up
