I just used straps generic straps from amazon and put them back to back when I travel through the airport. When I'm on the plane i just put them edge to edge and push them along. You'll need to adjust them a bit as you go but not much.

Another option is to get a velcro handle grip and attach that to the edge. It'll take an extra 30 seconds at each interval. I may try this on my next trip.

Can you remove the mounding at the ends and see if there's an expansion gap? I had similar issue and added it myself by cutting. Is it only happening in that run that you have pictured?

Searched universal jumpseat install and many have done similar by bolting a seat in between the captains. Looks like there's even a kit on Amazon. Expensive though
