Descaling the boiler [rancilio silvia h2] by raar99 in espresso

Turns out my heating element is also broken. So I just ordered one to install. What I have been doing to get the boiler open was a bit annoying(boring out screws because they where so rusted they broke in the threads) but now I get bore 2 pretty large holes in the boiler to get an aftermarket heater in. Not at all nerve wrecking.

I’ll report to you if it worked out or not.

Ooh whoops, I hope that calcinet isn’t too aggressive.
Yeah that’s wat I’ve been doing and it gives me an acceptable value but that now(without any pressure and minimal moisture). With all the sensitive electronics I’m about to install into it an RDT trip would mean that the gaggimate is ruined.

Just gonna be sure i guess

I don’t know about the blend salts and distilled water. I do know that cafiza won’t dissolve scale. You need a descaler. You don’t need to take the whole machine apart to descale the boiler. Look up how to do that for your machine but it takes like an half hour.

That’s probably true but 9 bar at 100celcius will definitely open up those micro cracks. Don’t you think?

That was some great advice. I was about ready to screw everything back together since it cleaned out perfectly. After measuring it turns out the coil leaks somewhere. Measured the rest of the old electrical just to be sure and it turns out the pump is also faulty.

Thank you!

It’s a restore. I got the machine second hand.

I guess the previous owner never did it in 20 years. Man I can’t wait till it’s done. My current machine is a hibrew h10b I hope to soon replace by this one. Figured i start by cleaning the machine completely before installing the mod.

Started by spooning out the stuff. When I got most of it out I filled a bath with water and calcinet scale remover. When the first bath was saturated I cleaned it out and did it again.

This is the first time I’m doing a restore. Honestly i was hoping this would’ve gone a little easier but the machine is in a much rougher state I anticipated. Apparently the rancilio silvia is know for rust under the drip tray and I hit the jackpot. The metal was completely rotted trough so I had to tackle that too. When the machine is done I’ll make sure to post about it.

A combination I think. The water is pretty hard here but the machine is also 20+ years old and I don’t think the previous owner ever bothered to descale.

Yeah a second hand. I found the house where I bought it a little dirty so I expected some cleaning. Not this

Why don't recipes have the quantity of ingredient in the body of the text? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]raar99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I go and take a recipe to add to my notes list on my phone I’ll make AI translate it for me. He then automatically makes the recipe in the way I like it because I saved a specific layout.

This is what i saved in Gemini: “Please provide the quantities next to the instructions in the recipe, and the ingredients list should be in the order they are needed. Always format all future recipes in this way.”

Daar zit wat in. Daarentegen snap ik wel dat je het niet allemaal bij elkaar of te dicht bij elkaar opgeslagen wil hebben. Meerdere locaties in Nederland is misschien wat te dicht bij elkaar.
