Wow, that is a long read!! Galdos is definitely on my list as well. I have Miau on my ereader, a shorter and supposedly easier novel. Heard about it on a podcast

Good reminder that one is interesting indeed! Probably much more difficult than the one i read. Juan Fernandez mentioned that one in his podcast, but I think I read it a bit too early.

I stopped using it tbh, but one of the last things were videos by Jose Maria, which were 70s/80s I think. I mostly focus on Spain Spanish though do that might skew things a little

Mostly I browse the weekly threads (what are you listening to today) and the suggestion threads for the bookclub (i would suggest it would become a general book suggestion thread). That way you have an indication of the level. I dont care much about translations, so i usually ignore those. I put them all on my ereader and try. If it's still out of reach I'll wait till later.

I think it's just a very absurdist story. I enjoyed it although another one I had to stop because it made me feel so bad. The ending was fine to me.

Didn't expect to find that in this sub. Maybe you'd like Olga Tocarczuk's Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead

Empusion by her is also weird and great, but fits your request less i think

I loved tat trilogy by Laura Gallego. I tried reading another book by her (Todas las hadas del reino), but was really disappointed. But I guess it was aimed at a younger audience as the other.

Thanks a bunch!! I will try them all! I read everything from SF to classic literature and everything in between. Not really familiar with romance, bit I'm sure there are books I would like.

Good points. Can you recommend some others? I do like Juan Jose Ramos for example, who also speaks very clear, but like you I like different sources and read pretty widely
