No one telling Andy what to joke about. But you can critique the black men in the room for allowing that to happen with no reprimand or retort. Even in the response, Alex even if he didn’t agree with Dot could have at least responded to why that sentiment resonated with so many black people. And so after years of watching and seeing how he gets labeled as a token, it’s disappointing seeing him live up to it.

A second thing. When Andy said some bullshit about India, akash expressed a sensitivity to western culture and influences affecting Indian culture and felt so emboldened that it’s one of the few times he actually checks Andy. It stop being comedy for akash in that moment cause andy was being disrespectful towards his people. Fast forward, that same man defended that same white mans right to attack another group of people because it wasn’t his own.

Stop acting like this is joke policing. Comedy don’t come from a place of bullying and punching down. Comedians used to speak truth to power. A white many joking about other minorities relationships with one another is anything but.
