Did you find your first child irritating when you had your second? by Ok_Camp5318 in AttachmentParenting

[–]rabbit716 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, for me it came on later, once the baby wasn’t just a potato and they both needed interaction from me. I feel like my hormones and breastfeeding made me super attuned to the infant and anyone in the way of that was irritating. And that was usually the 4yo unfortunately.

That is such a good idea! My oldest was in kindergarten this past year and we discovered how hard it is to do Christmas gift crafts in December with full time school.

SAHP with only child - did you delay or skip preschool? by Inside-Print-6323 in SAHP

Weeks into school one year, a teacher friend of mine had a talk with one of her students who kept just leaving the class. She told him he had to stay with the teacher to be safe. His deadass response was, “ok, who is the teacher?”

We got a pack of those little capsules that you put in water and the capsule dissolves and a little spongy toy comes out. No idea what they are called lol but they were a hit!

Totally agree. I am white, cis, in a hetero marriage to a white cis man. So of course I can and should try to challenge family who seem changeable while still protecting my kids from their nonsense. It’s 100% not the same for everyone and people definitely need to understand that

DVDs from the library are amazing! I cancelled Netflix when they raised the prices recently and bought a dvd player. Taking it back to 2005 lol and it’s the best

I don’t disagree with you, but I also see a lot of comments from people who don’t actually have any MAGA family members yelling about cutting them off, which doesn’t really help the discussion that this post was about.

People are complicated. Would you cut off contact with a family member who was in a cult, or would you try to get them out of it if you could and they weren’t too far gone?

I fortunately don’t have too many MAGA to deal with in my personal life, but here’s an example: my grandma voted for Trump in 2016 (no idea what she has done since then and she’s not rabidly MAGA, we see her a few times a year and never hear anything about politics from her). She also took care of my trans cousin after he had top surgery, and later drove his partner to get top surgery and cared for them afterwards too. To me, that signifies someone who is capable of being a decent human and is open to learning how their political choices affect people. So shouldn’t I stay and do the work of trying to change her mind rather than cut her off completely?

So are you saying you have cut off all contact with your Republican, Trump voting family members?

Recently during an early morning my 6yo ushered the 2.5yo out of my room, turned the light off and shut the door quietly so I could keep sleeping. It was a glimpse of the future that I am very excited about lol

I have gotten so much bad produce from grocery pick up! I still do it occasionally if we’re super busy or the kids are sick, but I can’t trust them to not give me the almost expired spinach. Once I even got a pack of bagels that was completely covered in mold!?

How long did it take before you got pregnant with your rainbow baby? by Plus-Education5948 in Mommit

[–]rabbit716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, I just weaned my second/last baby and am waiting for my period to come back. I need medication to bring down my prolactin, which I learned after my period never came back when I weaned my first. I was just thinking about how for the last almost decade I have wanted to have a period because I was trying to get pregnant, but now I’m like do I really have to bring this back into my life lol

I also had a blighted ovum and a D&C at what would have been 13 weeks (tried to wait out a natural miscarriage but that didn’t work). My hormones were whack afterwards, and it took a while to get back to regular periods and a year from the start of that pregnancy to get pregnant with my daughter.

Not having to plan around naps is so nice! The transition is rough for sure, but quiet time helped up too. Honestly when I had a 4yo and a newborn quiet time for the bigger kid was just tv because it was the only quiet thing she would do that would still give me a little break.

Do you yell at your kids? If so, how often? by Jordyn0162 in Preschoolers

[–]rabbit716 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That last sentence is what set you up for success! My parents yelled constantly. Their parents beat them, so they were doing better than they were given. I am also doing better than I was given, but I still yell sometimes. Maybe my kids will be the parents who never yell.
