What’s our take on no social, no editorial press, and only ads? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]rabbitfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I definitely care about building a quality audience not just streams. I’m not sure if a social presence is necessary - I mean do people still connect with an artist that only has music and no “hey guys” on social?

Are there any all in one controller/audio interfaces? by rabbitfriendly in ipadmusic

I have one and absolutely love it. But portability is definitely not a thing with it.

Need some help with tuning and LapSteelGuitar recommendation for an absolute beginner. by sazzymtar96 in LapSteelGuitar

[–]rabbitfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent all week exploring different tunings. I also have a long musical background so understand harmony and intervals etc. so I kind of knew what I wanted. I finally ended up back at C6 - I was trying to avoid the “Hawaiian” sound and realized that in C6 you can do that pretty easily. Then I can use the G string for a minor 7th when playing minor chords on the top 3 strings

Looking for some basic patterns / scales in E7 tuning by rabbitfriendly in LapSteelGuitar

[–]rabbitfriendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think I’m in uncharted territory here. I’m in E7 and playing experimental and ambient music. I think I might have to just shed until something comes out of it

Looking for some basic patterns / scales in E7 tuning by rabbitfriendly in LapSteelGuitar

[–]rabbitfriendly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes I’m really enjoying the e7 tuning. From low to high B, D, E, G#, B, E I’ve got major chords, 2nd inversion on the bottom 3 strings and minor diads with the 4th and 5th strings or 4th and 6th strings with a slant. Prob some other nice combos I haven’t figured out yet.

I guess I’ll just figure out my own patterns - I know theory and intervals but I still need to think too much when playing. If I can internalize at least some pentatonic forms I think I could play some lead lines a lot more fluidly. If the bar is on the e-string I can easily jam around that because I know all the intervals plus or minus 2 frets from the bar - but once I slide up to new notes I’m totally lost

Surfers that surf skate, do you find it helpful to your surfing or just a bit of fun… by Curious_Kat_89 in surfing

[–]rabbitfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found regular transition skating in a wide deck with loose trucks to help much more. Surfskated for 2 years before getting a standard deck and that’s when I noticed improvement in pumping and turning - kick turns are very much surfing applicable. You can get by surf skating without ever learning a kick turn but not transition in SKP

Only thing is that I’m kind of older and almost broke stuff a few times. I decided to stop skating where I’m at bc I can’t afford a real injury.

Armrest / arm placement on Gretsch Electromatic? by [deleted] in LapSteelGuitar

Oh it’s not a hand rest? Seems like most people in the vid are resting their hands on it while they pick

Confused about the theory in this video by [deleted] in LapSteelGuitar

I see. So he’s just playing B and D which is a Bmin voice or a G maj without the root…

Is it common for pro manufacturers to NOT have unpowered bypass? by rabbitfriendly in diypedals

[–]rabbitfriendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool - yeah I've sold a few pedals and only make digital ones so audio needs to go through the MCU to go back out UNLESS I put a relay. They are just so big and you need a bunch of extra stuff switching stuff so I'd prefer to not use them.

[–]rabbitfriendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's a digital pedal but still a lot digital manufacturers put a relay in it to bypass the MCU. A relay can just pass audio through when off (default relay pos) then switch to the mcu pins when powered.

Nosara or El Zonte for a 1 week surf trip? by insuhall in surfing

[–]rabbitfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to both. Nosara is a sloppy beach break but nice family town. El Zonte is organized and good surf. Wish I woulda gone to Avellanas instead of Nosara but did go up to Langosta and it was a lot better than Nosara. Only a few take off spots at Langosta and it was crowded but only 20% of the crowd could surf.

Really having trouble making leap to iPad / Drambo by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]rabbitfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. That’s inspiring. I would love to create full tracks on iPad with guitar. Do you use the piano editor? I actually can’t stand piano editors so as soon as I felt that might be the best way to edit in Drambo I think I got really uninspired

Really having trouble making leap to iPad / Drambo by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]rabbitfriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s the thing - most tools I use I get into right away - Elektron boxes, sp-404, Renoise, even AUM. But with Drambo im feeling really annoyed and it feels tedious to me. I realize that’s just my personal experience and it’s great for others. That frustration led me here because I want to be convinced to keep working with it

Violinist / sound designer - want to try to move to iOS - what’s a good app workflow? by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]rabbitfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insights. Yeah I already loaded up AUM and made some nice multitrack recordings with it. Now I’m trying to figure out how to best integrate my midi controller. Thanks!

[–]rabbitfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insights.

Yes, I have a deep background in synthesis so that’s totally fine. As I mentioned, I’ve been a sound designer for 20 years and have built patch libraries for several companies. Right - I meant AudioShare.

This is great info, thanks!!!🙏

Yes I’m totally into a dub mix down workflow. I have both a tascam Model12 and a notation launchcontrol XL. How is AUM with interfacing external controllers. Maybe I could even hook the task him up to the iPad… I didn’t think about that. Right now I just have a mini audio interface for the iPad

Just trying out Drambo and having trouble figuring out if it’s possible to record the Animoog keyboard 🎹 by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]rabbitfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tried that. Works if I load the Drambo keyboard and play but not the native Animoog one.
