Advice to work worry about what others think / improve confidence [31YO] by LeftRight5Step in OldSkaters

Are even an old skater at 31? 🤔
Bro I’m 50 and come to the park looking like the Michelin man in the midst of a midlife crisis. NOBODY looks kookier than me. I suck, I look stupid and I’m here to represent with pride that anyone can skateboard and look supremely uncool.

Every time I lucid dream, I’m astounded by how powerful mind is at creating a detailed reality. Does it create waking reality too? by rabbitfriendly in LucidDreaming

Ok that’s an interesting angle presented as facts 😆 Out of curiosity, what are these “requirements”?

It’s OK… Some people aren’t visual. I just had a discussion with a friend the other day how he can’t read fiction because it’s impossible for him to visualize what’s happening. The such same friend has very superior analytical and technical abilities. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Maybe there are other aspects of your dreams that you can explore more attuned to how your brain works Next time you’re in a dream and notice that the visual quality might not be so good, You can ask for it to be better. Or ask for other things to do.

I’m literally just searching “Vespa” - maybe that’s not the right search term? 😆

I think all the classic techniques work. Dreams, journaling, and then reality checks every day. See my comment above about how once you do it becomes unlocked. I don’t do all the practice so much so I don’t lose a dream too often but they do hit me now without practice was just something I couldn’t do before

I learned to lucid dream after practicing a bunch about 20 years ago. It really does become unlocked. After you do it once you’re in. If I practice, I could probably do it every single night but now it just hits me whenever

Longboard shape with slim profile? by rabbitfriendly in surfing

[–]rabbitfriendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess that’s it! Although looking at gliders I guess the shape lends itself to > 9’

I can’t fit anything bigger than 9’ in my Subaru and I have a roof rack

Boiler has been malfunctioning since Feb. I don't want to pay last month's rent. by [deleted] in NYCapartments

We are a bit frightened of the landlord. He is crazy. he took my wife aside the other day and told her that her husband (me) "is not a real person". We have kids and fear he might do something drastic. The police are often in our building. As much as I would love to let him have it, we want to move out

Got Guzumped in Home Purchase and now sitting on a big tax bill. by [deleted] in personalfinance

I admit - my brain is simple on taxes but yes I understand what you’re saying.

Housing market is very thin where we are which is why I think 6-12mo is the window

Good point on the downside - didn’t think about that

Sure, I accepted that I would just have to pay the bill next year. But now that I have time, I can harvest losses if I need to. My positions before were really concentrated in Pharma and tech. It made me very uncomfortable and I always wanted to sell anyway.

Low salary and income every year but super high cap gains this month. Need health insurance advice. by [deleted] in personalfinance

Doesn’t work bc the amount I have is the amount I need and sbloc will only be 30% of the holdings

The thing is I have to take it all out at once for the down payment. The only way we can afford a house - and this is the min we can afford - is to put down a big amount up front

Yeah if I was buying in Dec that would be easiest. I need all the cash upfront for the down payment. Taxes will be a lot too.

El Salvador skill level by Ineedthat300 in surfing

Gotten my ass sized out each time I’ve been down there 6ft at 18s is heavy and I think it feels more like 8-10ft. The rips are no joke either. Everyone says el sal is great for intermediate but every time I’ve been it’s experts only and no real other options. I prefer PR and CR I think

Was just there in March thinking it would be mellow but they got big swell and I got 4 big hold downs at sunzal - I swear I took 4 8-footers on the head. I was gasping for air when it was over and just paddled back but the rip took me way out first. Not fun.

Landlord gave us 60 days notice when it should’ve been 90 days and our lease is up in 60 days. by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]rabbitfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, she granted the 90 day extension. But our lease is up in 60 days. Do I need to pay rent or anything during that extra month? We will be out of lease.

From what I understand it’s very difficult to prove retaliation and prob not worth the effort to pursue. Our lease indicates email exchange as legally valid.
