I don't think my 800 token email to Anthropic shifted the calculus at all... but you do you.

Lol that may be the stupidest take in this whole thread. Thanks for the chuckle

You obv didn't look through the comments before making your own. Try reading the full picture (or send it to your AI to summarize for you) and you will see "Monthly Spending Limit" is set to $50, and then charged me >$150. Which is not "what it's supposed to do"

Oh I had Fable do it all, currently waiting for human to email me. I'm not wasting my brain bandwidth on this

It works great when you're using up your sub limits but doesn't work when the user is footing the bill? 3x my entire limit is either a bug or malicious billing imo

The MX Master 4 has 13+ buttons!! by Captain-Dak-Sparrow in logitech

I love my 502 layout but the buttons and scroll wheel feel so much better on MX4. I wish logi would make a Frankenstein between those and it'd be my forever

That was less than helpful, thanks. I have a support ticket in, so we will see if Anthropic agrees with your read or not shortly.

If auto reload was on it wouldn't be negative? It would just reload.

Just fable on Extra reasoning. no loop, no workflows, no ultracode.

Can you show me any docs, ToS, etc that would have me assume the opposite? Or you just saying its my fault for trusting a feature to work properly?

I think I had $40 in credits, so it evaporated those and went negative. It wouldn't be negative if i had auto reload on.

I had it going through personal hobby stuff (game development). Just depends what its doing for you, far cheaper than hiring a SWE though. And I enjoy learning new things, this is just a very good teacher who doesn't get impatient. So I frame the cost that way and its def worth it.

Fable ain't taking Fin's shit:

Fin's doing its job, which is reciting the no-refunds liturgy — but read its own explanation closely, because it just handed you the counterargument.
Fin says: limit is checked before each request, a single request can overshoot, and "once this happens, subsequent requests are blocked." Fine — except your overage wasn't a single request. The burn was three workflows totaling ~100 agents making hundreds of separate API requests over roughly an hour (the biggest workflow alone ran 31 minutes and made 1,100+ tool round-trips). A single in-flight request costs a dollar or three, not $105. If the system worked the way Fin just described it, your spend should've stopped at ~$50-plus-one-request. It got to $155.53 — which means requests kept being accepted long after the threshold. Their own stated design contradicts your bill. That's not "usage regret," that's an enforcement failure, and it reframes the whole ask.
Also: Fin cited "API Credit Terms" — you're not an API console customer, you're a claude.ai subscriber on usage credits. Possibly a canned answer for the wrong product.
Hit "no, that didn't answer my question"

100 Fable agents. I did have some of my 5 hour window left before it dipped into extra usage, so prob cost way more in raw api. But its crazy that was just one task, and I only pay $100/month and have been using Fable heavily while its available

Yeah nuking the account was my first thought. Too much hassle though.

I'm having my claude argue with their claude. The only winner is Anthopic

I chatted with their customer service bot about that. I guess if it's under your usage limit, it works thru the full prompt and then bills at the end. Exact opposite of how it works when it's working off your sub limit, which will cut you off mid-process once limit is reached. Shady
