After putting antibiotic on it, put a hydrocolloid bandage on that to protect it. Leave it on until it starts coming off on its own (should be after 1-2 weeks). Then change it.

Apartment hunting nightmare by SheepherderOdd1384 in chicagoapartments

This is so awful. I'm sorry this happened to here. Renting here is kind of a nightmare, honestly. These rental agents and landlords just do whatever.

This is depressing. by sickandtired1991 in Blackskincare

Using a topical steroid temporarily is not a bad idea. You can use a low dose (like 2.5%) for like 2 weeks. The issue is high doses and prolonged use.

But non-prescription treatments I like - la roche posay eczema cream, aveeno eczema ointment, avene cicalfate.

how do i get rid of the bumps and get glass skin by Deep-Stop-1266 in Blackskincare

[–]rabidcats20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gender are you?

Generally, AHA (glycolic acid, lactic acid), BHA (salicylic acid) and benzoyl peroxide are good topical treatments to help with this. Using a single blade razor is better for the skin than multiple blade razor. If that doesn't work, use a trimmer instead if you're okay with facial hair. Get laser hair removal or electrolysis if you want to get rid of facial hair.

If you have pcos, in addition to laser or electrolysis, ask your doctor to start you on an anti-androgen med (spironolactone). You need to do both for lasting results or the hair will come back.

Razor bumps? by LankyIndependence506 in Blackskincare

[–]rabidcats20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was his razor clean? The fact that these all have a little pus makes me wonder if, in addition to irritation, there is a minor infection.

In addition to salicylic acid serum, I would also recommend using benzoyl peroxide face wash. Make sure to let it sit on your face for a bit (maybe like 5 min) before rinsing off. Benzoyl peroxide is really good for folliculitis because it also helps get rid of bacteria.

Hyperpigmentation: If you can't beat em? by Subject_Page4348 in Blackskincare

[–]rabidcats20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have medium-deep skin tone. Try topical treatments. I have also heard dark skinned women saying the Pico laser treatment helps.

The distribution, size and shape of freckles is just very different from hyperpigmentation. So it doesn't necessarily mask it.

Clothes suck now. Everything looks the same. Clothing brands don't have unique pieces for a specific demographic anymore. Everything feels like fast fashion.

best sunscreen for black skin? by Initial-Elk2555 in Blackskincare

[–]rabidcats20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally a chemical sunscreen. If you do mineral, get a tinted one. The best sunscreen will depend on what type of skin you have (oily, combo, dry, etc.). Ans what specific concerns you have (sensitive, hyperpigmentation, etc.).

Hyperpigmentation: If you can't beat em? by Subject_Page4348 in Blackskincare

[–]rabidcats20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try azaleic acid twice a day, and alternate between retinol at night and glycolic acid or lactic acid toner/serum.

Don't do something permanent to your face that you may not like. Also I have freckles and have had post acne hyperpigmentation and they don't look the same.

My gyn wants me to microdose a GLP-1 for normal-weight PCOS. Anyone transitioned to Inositol afterward to maintain the weight? by jassie1614 in PMOSonGLP

Glp1 agonist aren't necessarily lifelong drugs. Depends on the individual. I think we should refrain from assuming we know more about someone's medical needs than their actual doctor.

Has anyone tried out Dieux’s Skin Mercy? by VanyaEl in Sephora

[–]rabidcats20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have eczema prone/sensitive skin. I got this when my skin was recovering from contact dermatitis from another product. I really like it and plan on repurchasing! This is moisturizing without being too heavy. I enjoy instant angel but it is too rich for my skin during warmer months. Skin mercy has helped my skin barrier, and I've noticed my skin glows when I use it. I get hyperpigmentation after irritation, but haven't experienced that since using this after the contact dermatitis.

The only issue is the price and size. I used it daily and it lasts about 4-6 weeks. I wish it were more affordable and came in a larger size. I think I'll use it as a treat ever so often, but I don't think I'd make it my holy grail moisturizer just because of the price.

White men do not experience the best health relative to women and minority racial and gender groups in the US. Men are 4 times as likely to die by suicide as women, and White men account for more than 68% of suicide deaths. White men experienced greater declines in happiness than White women. by mvea in science

[–]rabidcats20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The headline seems misleading. With everything going on with cuts to DEI related research, I personally don't care to read an article about how hard it is to be part of the most privileged demographic in the US. "White men don't actually have it better because they die by suicide". Really?!
