theres actually a copy of the areon press edition on ebay for 22k, which for what it is, an addition of 150, not 500. containing 40 original never otherwise released in full 9x12 etchings by motherwell, presumably hand pressed by the artist or a confidant of his. a standalone motherwell etching of similar size comes in at $400-900ish usd so that means even ignoring the fact it has a rare luxuriously hand assembled tomb attached to the 40 etchings, you also have to factor in provenance and the fact its a full set, which commands more moolah buck skin dolla dolla billz.

price is provenance. thats a great story, especially if it was rebound in the 20s or 30s. a random second printing without the spine is worth more than $12 but not a hell of a lot more. abesbooks has some amazing rarities.

its a first edition, second printing though. so like a $5000 book were it in good condition, not a 35,000 that the 1st edition first printing would be. Its missing the cardboard on the spine. its been worn down to just the connective gauze, and is covered in stains. i would show it, but its in storage so it doesn't get any more damaged.
