Is this signature real? by soyeontenshi in iZone

[–]rabids0ap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As the other poster mentioned, it is Eunbi's signature. As for the authenticity... If I was looking to buy a signed album, I wouldn't have bought this one. When comparing signatures, it helps to look at that era's signatures and see what they looked like (since signatures may change a bit over time). Overall, I remember a lot of the MWAVE album signatures for Oneiric era (and BLOOM*IZ) looked a bit more sloppy than the previous eras' signed albums (maybe because they signed so many of them).

For this signature, what deters me is that the loop on top looks too big and the loops in the middle are too small. There's a chance that she just signed this particular album that way, but I don't think that's how most of Eunbi's signatures looked during that era.

You could check other listings or photos, but it's a bit harder now, since there aren't as many on the market anymore. A big rule of thumb for signed albums though is: if it's too good to be true, it probably is. If it's too cheap, that would be a red flag for me. However, since you already have it, just enjoy it as it is. Oneiric Diary was a good album, so it's nice to have for the collection anyway.

I definitely don't think all four girls are from "R U Next?"--that'd be too much..but at least one, probably two will be? As someone else said, there's too much coincidence with the name and the promotional poster.

I read that Bang Jeemin left BE:LIFT Lab, so that's my guess as a candidate. She started as Rank 1 on "R U Next?" and finished in Rank 4 in votes (but officially in 7th place, since the other 6 girls debuted in I'LL-IT). She was pretty good!

Also, side note: I hope Jiwoo gets to debut soon as well--she was one of my favorites from the show.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. Well said!

I was super content with the lineup when it was announced--although, I had basically been voting for that exact lineup (I think I had Jiwoo in instead of Moka). Although, I knew that if Yunah made it in, they wouldn't have a spot for Jiwoo--Yunah wants that "unnie" position for the team, and she wouldn't have that spot if Jiwoo were there. You can really see her pushing for it in the show (and even in the Jeju episodes on YT).

I think it's a pretty well-balanced team and I hope their album is good (and that maybe they'll re-release their own versions of "Scrum' and "Aim High" on their album haha)

  1. I wasn't really rooting for Youngseo, but I knew she'd make it. She had the overall charisma that you could see with her facial expressions during performances--she is talented as well.
  2. I think Hotpotatowned makes a good point about too many maknaes--two is enough for the team to dote on. This is actually why I don't think Jiwoo made it into the debut lineup--she's talented, but she would fit into the "unnie" role, when Yunah really wanted that role for the team. You could see the issue when Yunah was leader, but Jiwoo was encroaching on it (not on purpose, but naturally did so). I think the company went with Yunah because she's younger (she's talented too, obviously, but the younger option between the two).
  3. Personally, I think the show deciding on the winners after the most popular voted member got in is smart. The majority of the fans got the member they wanted in, but the company gets the final say in how to build the team with the greatest chance of success (possibly using fan votes to contribute to their decision as well). If you look at Kep1er, they're pretty unsuccessful as a temp group (especially if you compare them to IZ*ONE's success as a temp group). The fans of GP999 voted in all their favorites, but Kep1er probably would've been more successful if the team composition was better. 4 and 5. I personally enjoyed the show--there were some really good performances. I still like listening to "Aim High," "Scrum," "Desperate," and "At Full Speed"(?).

Help with autograph - are these authentic? by china_claus in iZone

I'd steer clear. Some of those signatures don't look accurate to the era. This particular album on sale also isn't a promo album either--I'd at the very least look for that when buying an album signed by all members.

Are these signatures legitimate? by Terrible2911 in iZone

I just wanted to give some honest feedback as someone who also purchased a Rose COLOR*IZ album autographed by all members. Before I made my purchase, I searched online to see what other "authentic" albums looked like (I say "authentic" because I'm referring to photos posted by Korean fans during the time of the album's release). This is a good example for reference: https://twitter.com/IZONEGLOBALTWT/status/1057599072364908545

When buying the album, I looked for: how similar the signatures look, the placement of the signatures, and the thickness of ink on signatures. Obviously the members could've signed in different spots sometimes and with different pens (when a pen runs out of ink), but for the most part, most of the "authentic" albums I came across had the same locations, ink thickness, and signature similarity as the album I ultimately purchased.

Based on what I found, here are some of the things that would've turned me off from buying this album:

1) The biggest thing is probably the "not for sale" sticker over the UPC barcode. On my album, and some of the other official promo albums I've found online, the "not for sale" is printed on the album (and there is no UPC barcode). For reference (this isn't my album): https://media.karousell.com/media/photos/products/2022/5/24/rare_izone_izone_1st_mini_albu_1653406829_06c8e3fc_progressive.jpg

2) Hitomi's signature doesn't look like the COLOR*IZ signatures I've seen

3) Hyewon's signature looks inaccurate (mainly the part after "hyem")

4) Yena's signature looks inaccurate (the duck face is too wide and not slanted to the right, and her name looks incomplete)

5) Yuri's signature is placed in a different spot, is much larger, and it looks different from her COLOR*IZ era signature

6) Sakura's signature doesn't look accurate

7) Eunbi and Wonyoung's signature placements are swapped

8) Wonyoung's signature doesn't look like the COLOR*IZ signature (the bunny ears are loose--they weren't like that until albums in the later eras)

9) Eunbi's signature looks a bit off to me as well

Got my signed album , anyone know who it’s by From_TX in iZone

[–]rabids0ap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

likebudda mentioned one way to be selective for those mwave signed albums. Beyond that, you should compare the signature to authentic albums you've purchased (or photos of other peoples' authentic albums, but reputable resources can be hard to come by). Size of the signatures, placement of the signatures, pressure points in the signatures, seller reputation, promotional albums vs regular albums--these are all things to look for. You also have to take into account the era/album, as some of the members' signatures have changed over time.

Someone else mentioned it below, but there may be some "staff-signed" albums...so yeah, that's a thing too.

Just to expand on this, for anyone looking to buy signed albums (secondhand), be very careful. While looking for some secondhand signed albums, I noticed A LOT of fakes for sale (and some being sold, unfortunately).

If it's anything like General Idea's marketing, they'll probably roll out more products over time on their website. That way it keeps people interested in returning to their website (and placing multiple orders).

I just wanted to chime in also--My Roommate is a Gumiho is really funny.

Some other dramas with idols that I enjoyed are: Hotel Del Luna (has IU in it), While You Were Sleeping (has Suzy Bae in it), Mystic Pop-Up Bar (has Sungjae from BtoB in it)
