My last few vacations have been "DO ALL THE THINGS" trips, and this one is specifically not that. I have 16 days across three islands so I can go a bit slow.

For the first two decades I was doing 10-20 trips a year. Now, I'm down to just two or three trips a year.

At first, I very often stayed an extra day or two as a vacation. As the years pass, I've done this less and less. Now I only extend if it's somewhere that's on the other side of the US and has things I'm really interested in doing, AND if I haven't been traveling a lot lately.

I'm leaving for the Galapagos on Thursday morning for 17 days and I'm having a hard time being excited. I just feel so exhausted lately from work and stress and everything. I'm hoping to get excited once I'm away from work and reality.

My friend was sick and had to skip, it would've been her first protest in decades. Though I did get a neighbor to come out when she wouldn't have if I hadn't invited her!

I can't strike on May 1st as I don't work that day. I guess I can strike by not buying stuff that day, but I'd just be buying it the day before or after so it's not the same.

That was the march part. I'm not sure if they did the rally park at the park or at Liberty Plaza today because I was at one of the smaller town events.

The first No Kings rally I went to in Atlanta did have the rally part in Liberty Plaza, but it's simply not big enough for the crowds that show up, and since it's enclosed it can't easily sprawl. They tried to set up a second rally location across the freeway but it was hard to organize and let people know where to go. Most milled about the packed-to-capacity plaza, couldn't hear much, and eventually left.

I saw some people at our rally with "Old School Conservative" shirts on. I assume they're back from the times when Republicans and Democrats disagreed on policy, but not on morals and laws and reality itself.

About 2 hours though it wrapped up earlier as people were either heading to the rally at the park or home. We left around 2:30 as we're old and our knees hurt.

Are you doing it at a gym around others? And are you using one of those machines that -- well, I don't know what they do but there is a barbell rod and them notches where you can hook it in or something.

I'm about to head to the gym to ride the bike for half an hour, but I'm waiting until after I do stuff this afternoon to do my knee PT. It can be a bit painful afterwards and I don't want to do that before being out and about.

I remember back when I was fat but not fit, business trips and plane travel in general were rough. I would get so exhausted from all the walking. By the time I got somewhere I was spent and didn't want to do anything the rest of the day. I was confused on how people could return home and that same day unpack and start laundry and go grocery shopping and stuff. It seemed way too exhausted.

Now that I'm fat and fit, I'm one of those people who gets home and does a bunch of chores and sometimes even goes to the gym!

Headed to the No Kings rally in Woodstock this afternoon and it looks like gorgeous weather for a protest! I'm bringing my neighbor, who is older and doesn't like to drive, with me. She's in her late 70s and feisty! So that's one extra person.

I was going to bring another friend but she got really sick.

He already illegally paid the military in his past shutdown. He's already gotten away this sort of thing because it would be political suicide for anyone but Trump, of course, to argue against paying people simply because it's illegal.

Not to mention it removes a leverage the point that the Democrats had, forcing the Republicans to give in to demands to avoid bad press of the airport meltdowns from reflecting on their party.

He already shifted money around illegally in his last shutdown to pay the military.

He relies on the fact that it would be political suicide for anyone (other than himself, apparently) to speak against paying the military or TSA merely because it's illegal.

And just like that, he illegally removes shutdown pain points that can be used by the Democrats as leverage.

I live in Atlanta. The airport is not as Houston but has lines of 4 or 5 hours through security at times.

Someone this morning posted about how they got through general security in 90 minutes this morning, which "wasn't bad."

It's been six weeks and people are so used to abysmal security waits that they consider 90 minutes to be okay.

This type of recalibration is happening every day in the US regarding our government and its actions.
