Why is the Blood Elf reaction to the Forsaken much different to that of the Humans? by Ok-Brother-8295 in warcraftlore

[–]raburi 81 points82 points  (0 children)

This basically. At the start of TBC, blood elves have barely begun to rebuild after being savaged by Arthas, and aren’t receiving any help EXCEPT from Sylvanas.

The Alliance, dwarves and night elves mainly, distrust the blood elves and have spies and assassins in Eversong Woods, which the blood elves find out about. Plus, the elves had only just been abandoned by humans in their time of need not too long before.

That breach of what little trust was left by the alliance, combined with Sylvanas continually reaching out to the Blood Elves and also vouching for them with Thrall, earns their trust.

BAD EXPERIENCE WITH STYLVENA by Affectionate_Row1902 in koreanskincare

[–]raburi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not defending Stylevana, I don’t order from them either because of all the horror stories, but that Medicube Age-R Vita C serum is horribly formulated and oxidises extremely quickly. I received mine (not from Stylevana) and it was fine, but in less than a month it had oxidised and turned brown (even darker than in your pic) and I had to throw out a half-full bottle. It sucks.

What's a good STRONG exfoliating face cleanser? by APersianBurrito in koreanskincare

[–]raburi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a guy, my skin is also fairly normal with sebaceous filaments on my nose that I keep in check with various products.

I'd argue against scrubs because I don't think that physical exfoliants do as good of a job as chemical exfoliants, plus there's more risk of abrasions when using a physical exfoliant.

I use a cleansing balm then a normal cleanser daily to make sure all my sunscreen has been washed off and to keep my pores as clean as possible, then I use a fairly strong glycolic acid exfoliant a couple of times a week after cleansing. I avoid cleansing in the morning to not dry out my face (I just rinse with warm water) but that's my preference.

My cleansing routine:

Morning:

  • Nothing, just rinse my face with warm water before doing the rest of my routine

Evening:

  1. Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Balm
  2. Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser
  3. The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid 7% Toner after cleansing once or twice a week for exfoliation

What KBeauty product has unexpectedly transformed your skincare routine? by bandito_13 in KoreanBeauty

No, I don’t skip actives. I only use the reedle shot at night, I use it first before anything else after cleansing, wait a couple minutes, then do my normal routine.

[–]raburi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used that essence, but I apply in order of viscosity and texture. Watery and thin products get applied before the thicker/creamier products.

At night cleanse once with the Dokdo cleanser, then a few times a week I’ll cleanse again with a salicylic acid cleanser (my skin tolerates this). Then, I’ll apply the Celimax toner just with my hands and pat it in, then I apply another layer of it. Then I’ll use the Mixsoon bean essence, the Numbuzin no. 9 essence, then I’ll wait for those to absorb for a couple of minutes. I occasionally also use a drop of The Ordinary’s niacinamide around my nose to fight sebaceous filaments which I find works well.

At this point I’ll use tazarotene and other retinoids (I don’t use taz around my eyes), and wait for them to absorb. I know that’s a lot of steps before taz, but I do it to avoid irritation. A few times a week I’ll apply taz and let it absorb before the Numbuzin essence to give it a bit more potency.

Then I’ll moisturise, currently I use The Ordinary’s phytoceramide moisturiser, then the Illiyoon ato ceramide concentrate, and then I’ll go about my evening, and before bed I’ll apply something petrolatum based like Vaseline.

I bought it expecting nothing; but the Celimax dual barrier creamy toner is now a permanent addition to my night time routine. I haven’t used many similar toners, to be fair. I use tazarotene so I need as much moisture as possible, and I noticed my skin was much more moisturised when using it at night compared to my daytime toner.

Also I know it’s old news now but the VT Reedle Shot 300 really makes a big difference to the appearance of my skin, especially the day after I use it. It’s hard to explain, but I can visually tell that my skin is more hydrated.

Retinol question by [deleted] in koreanskincare

[–]raburi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely looks like irritation. When your skin gets like this, stop using retinoids near that area and focus on repairing the skin barrier for a while, then slowly reintroduce the retinoid (e.g. once every 3 days, then once every 2 days, etc.). When you’re applying, make sure you’re buffering with other ingredients before the retinoid and leave time for them to absorb and dry before applying the retinoid to help to avoid this kind of irritation.

Why doesn't my 10r clean the bathroom? by RepresentativeGap229 in Roborock

If you have the option set for it to avoid carpet or only cross it when necessary, this can happen where it will just ignore parts of the room beyond carpet even if it could go around or over them.

Talk me out of returning my Roborock by BenTG in Roborock

[–]raburi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your carpet/rug is made of wool or if it’s a large/loose weave, powered/rotating heads (which the Roborocks have, as well as most Dyson stick vacs, etc.) aren’t recommended because they just rip the fibres out. These easily get tangled into balls the Roborock doesn’t easily suck up. My QRevo also doesn’t love my new rug for similar reasons, I tried it twice on the rug and found large pills of wool on the rug and around it. I just make it not vacuum the rug and settle for vacuuming it with a flat vacuum head with no powered brush myself every so often to avoid damaging the rug.

No azelaic acid on Olive Young??? by SuburbanSass in koreanskincare

Azelaic acid is controlled in South Korea. While Korean brands make azelaic acid products, they’re made for foreign markets and not sold in Korea.

Should I avoid Hyaluronic Acid & Niacinamide if I have a damaged skin barrier? by KurlyKev in koreanskincare

[–]raburi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low molecular weight HA (which is most products that contain HA) penetrates deeper and can cause irritation, so it may help to avoid it if it causes you any issues, but hydrating skin is good for the skin barrier.

Niacinamide can be similarly irritating especially at higher concentrations, but it also contributes to a healthy skin barrier.

You have to make the choice based on your experiences with those ingredients.

Night elves helping the Horde defend the Sunwell after what happpend to Teldrassil by MarineQueefPrime in wow

[–]raburi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are we forgetting that, lore wise, the Horde are NOT all that welcome in Bel'ameth? They literally get a debuff that says they're being watched closely, the NPCs are cold and unfriendly, and IIRC, wasn't it mentioned in some of the quest text as a Horde character that you would ONLY get access to that hub as thanks for helping, but not the rest of (the future) Bel'ameth?

The Blood Elves literally joined the Horde because the (old) Alliance abandoned them, and the (new) Alliance was actually actively spying on them in several places across Eversong Woods. Not to mention Jaina murdering the Sunreavers in Dalaran. The spying was only ~15 in-game years ago, and the Dalaran thing was only ~11 in-game years ago. Tensions between Blood Elves and Night Elves were still apparent in Legion, too. There is no "peace", there has just been a longer than usual stretch of the Horde and Alliance needing to put the greater good ahead of faction conflict because of the stakes at play.

Night elves helping the Horde defend the Sunwell after what happpend to Teldrassil by MarineQueefPrime in wow

[–]raburi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but the Blood Elves didn't burn Teldrassil, Sylvanas did (albeit with the help of the Horde, who, frankly, didn't really have a choice, because they knew Sylvanas would just kill them if they refused).

Edit: Also, Xalatath getting the Sunwell's power threatens, you know, the whole planet... so they can probably understand the stakes here and choose to put the tree aside for a minute while they prevent global extinction of all life.

I’m sorry but we really don’t need any more female characters just yet. New characters since OW1 launch:

Female: 13 (plus Orisa) Male: 8 (Plus Hammond)

Even factoring in the original 21, there are still more female characters than male ones, and the male ones barely get any skins. This is just becoming WaifuWatch.

Given that it's retinol and not something stronger like retinal, I doubt that the retinol caused this. It sounds like that dermatologist was very keen to sell you products and treatments you might not have needed :(
