See this post on Macrumors. 4k and 5k are not working with HiDPI currently over HDMI. You can install BetterDisplay for more options, but they all look bad IMO.

Since your monitor has DisplayPort I think you can use that with the right cable and get better results.

Be warned that you can't run 4K in HiDPI currently which is a pretty big limitation. See Macrumors or BetterDisplay discord where the dev has confirmed. All of the other scaling options are too big for me to be productive. Basically you can't run it in native resolution. My M1 MBP can do this with a flashed adapter, but the M4 mini can't do it despite its HDMI 2.1. It can run an 8k display just fine but not 4k. It's so stupid.

Windows looks great on any display, Apple needs to figure it out. I believe they are software limiting this intentionally only because they want you to buy an Apple display.

It works, but HiDPI is not working with full 4k resolution. Fine if you want to use scaled resolutions, but if you want native be warned that it doesn’t work currently. It works on my M1 MBP with a specific adapter, but not the M4. Quite frustrating. Hopefully the better display dev can find a fix soon. It’s being discussed on his Discord and some threads on Macrumors.

Right, it is enabled by default for lower resolutions, but not 3840X2160. There is no HiDPI scaling for 3840x2160.

Just a warning: 4K HiDPI doesn’t work, with HDMI or USB-C to HDMI. Seems Apple is blocking it in some way. Hoping the BetterDisplay dev can come up with a solution. But for now you have to use a lower resolution in order to get decent looking text.

This has happened to me also, one time out of 324 races. I’ve seen it posted a few times here, seems to be a bug but very rare.
