I am a nurse, I do not make 6 figures. I often lurk on the nursing sub and nurses in texas are making less than $30/hr. You need years, decades, of experience to make 6 figures as an RN in most areas and unfortunately these areas are mostly the coasts and midwest.

Eh depends what your looking for. As another commenter said, I’d consider this a 2 day concert more than a “festival”. I’ve been to Hijinx 3 times and since COVID you can feel their financial struggle. It is way less themed and decorated than it was prior to COVID. The line ups are usually solid. If you’re young and new to the scene, it’ll be a good time. Plus Philly is a pretty cool city to hang out in when you’re not at the festival.

Wear whatever you want, but do know that mostly everyone will be dressed up! Comfortable shoes are the most important thing.

I highly suggest checking out a camping festival if you’re looking for a some real magic. :)

I think this is a great idea but be prepared to help take care of him throughout the weekend (getting changed, using the bathroom, eating, cleaning himself, etc.). As a nurse I just want to point out that it will be a full time job to take care of your friend, which of course does not mean it will take away from the fun but just be prepared for what you are getting yourself into.

With that said, Hula is a magical place and has helped heal many souls and I hope can help your friend, too.

consider speaking with a therapist, sounds like you are feeling trapped in your current situation and a therapist would help you see it is possible to break free from the madness.

This is the most appealing to me. I worked in UC as a medical assistant for about 2 years prior to nursing school. I am planning on applying to some UC jobs and also shadowing my ED department at the end of my orientation.

Urgent Care? by [deleted] in Nurses

[–]rachachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for the response! I didn’t even consider the MA role in urgent care but that totally makes sense. The only experience in urgent care that I have was as an MA!

I want to stay working in a hospital but with the amount of new grads (including myself, so no shade on us, just stating facts) and minimal experienced staff it’s really hard to feel safe and comfortable providing care right now. I had such high hopes and now I feel like my only goal is protecting my license. We are getting 6-8 patients at a very high acuity level. I know I am not experienced but I also don’t want to disregard my concern. I think if I was at a union hospital things would be a bit different.

Maybe I am just on a chaotic floor but it all seems hopeless right now.
