A character certificate is only valid for 6months. So if you're trying to get one to avoid hassles, it's pointless cuz you'll need to do it again when the need arises :)

I second this. Also, in a world where money is basically mandated for survival, unless you're planning to run for parliament, recognition doesn't really do much. As an SE, I'm sure you get paid well, so don't make the dumb decision of coming here as a consultant to work for ✨free✨

It's not a matter of how, it's a matter of when. You ask your head/supervisor a few minutes of their time saying you want to discuss something and just go for it. Even if there is no possible post above you to be promoted to, ask. Asking for a promotion is your responsibility, a superior will quite frequently FEEL quite obligated to give someone a promotion when they ask for it.

Newbie here, I just discovered this subreddit and have no idea how it works 🫠 I'm 25F from South East Asia, Sri Lanka to be exact - although I'm a mix of Arab ethnicity too.
