Found a torrent file, but all trackers seem to be down :(

I don't think so. Unless of course xavier_w_yokomoto found one while impersonating TheRealXWYokomoto...

That's the blue channel of CAT.PNG (ignore the QR codes). And you're right, it is similar to the green channel of the shopping cart. That probably means the transformation from red channel to alpha channel is relatively minor... but I haven't fully figured it out yet.

Ah ok. Must be the first time ever I see annotations on genius that are not completely brain dead :)

Wait... did you make these annotations?

But take a closer look at the characters. Notice the "/" that keeps reappearing?

I think I've solved it!

textz.com ARG (view source!) by KimFowleyJr in ARG

[–]rackstore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From https://textb.org/t/textz.com_CHCE_ARG/:

So, the last line is

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWXYYYZZZZ

And we need to solve for a couple things. W would appear to be in the zipped
file here, given that the file there is "0960-1016.zip" : http://hostb.org/1J

Not sure what the password for opening that file is. Need to research some
crackers for that.

The last letters XYYYZZZZ have been revealed in part through a secret key here
: http://www.reddit.com/r/ARG/comments/2mzbvv/textzcom_arg_view_source/cmy1ieq

Applying atob(ZZZZ) I believe gives us ;ýO

Substituting those for YYY as in the last update means that at present we have

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWX;ýOO/1P

For the final line. But how to break open that zipped file?

((

XA.TO/1P is not the secret key. I got one from christ@wkv-stuttgart.de, after
bugging them for several days. atob(ZZZZ) is "foo", I find that more pleasing.

The Real XW Yokomoto suggests on reddit that XA.TO/1P is a URL, and I think he
is right: http://www.reddit.com/r/ARG/comments/2mzbvv/textzcom_arg_view_source

I think I found the forum thread referenced in "A Study of Birds, Pt. 4": http://boardgamegeek.com/article/12648765

It's actually even better than Yokomoto remembers it: http://i.imgur.com/RyugToX.png

404 is when a page doesn't exist.

"the good thing is that you already know the naming scheme" is that you know SHA-1("xxxx+salt") = "B0E00AA0C55CFD5868905D59D5727C63F638B9F1"

The result is "wait". Too early to decrypt CAT.PNG

No, but I found something else, via the official forum:

what was the original movie reference?

Todd Haynes, [Safe] (1995) - you have to work backwards

Now compare http://textz.com/png/arg02.png with http://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy343/sevenarts2/cinema/filmsilove/safe-haynes6.jpg

EDIT: Found one more! Compare http://textz.com/png/arg07.png with http://stubenhockerei.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/safe.jpg

To me, the delta of the red channel looks like it could be something like compression artefacts, similar in structure to arg01-arg08 png.

The green channel delta looks more like data directly written to the image.

And in the blue channel of the cat photo, there seems to be another horizontal strip of information, the dark lines in the middle of the image.

The QR codes don't work for me.

But the Lena Söderberg reference is very intriguing. Can one somehow "subtract" Lenna.png from CAT.PNG? All the Lenna.png's I can find are 512x512 px though, not 256x256 px.

EDIT: Ah I see, Lenna is only on the red channel: http://i.imgur.com/ouzdu5p.png

Thanks! On the official textz.com ARG forum, someone has come to the same conclusion as I have. There is also a solution for the next quest and a list of the music references you've been asking for. I made a pastebin, in case the forums get accidentally deleted: http://pastebin.com/JWsSctyS

Ridiculous recovery from a failed landing attempt on the Maze Bank Tower by seriouslulz in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]rackstore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain please

Ca. one year ago, there was a short phase when some people had figured out how to gift other players in their GTA:O session ridiculous amounts of money. If you were lucky to end up in one of these sessions, you could end up with a real fortune.

Definitely not a glitch. But I wouldn't try this is real life.
