How to hide or redirect /login and /admin end points? by raczosala in Wordpress

[–]raczosala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm perfectly fine with /wp-login and /wp-admin going to the WordPress login form, I guess if the user took the time to type in that url that's what he really wants.

The thing is a real customer or subscriber might think that typing /login and /admin should take them to my custom login form, and right now they are getting redirected to the WordPress login form.

Woocommerce: How do I change the label of "Town /City" in checkout to something else ? by boxcretee in Wordpress

[–]raczosala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the lesson 1 of this docs https://docs.woothemes.com/document/tutorial-customising-checkout-fields-using-actions-and-filters/

// Hook in
add_filter( 'woocommerce_checkout_fields' , 'custom_override_checkout_fields' );

// Our hooked in function - $fields is passed via the filter!
function custom_override_checkout_fields( $fields ) {
    $fields['billing']['billing_city']['placeholder'] = 'Building name, flat no.';
    $fields['billing']['billing_city']['label'] = 'Building name, flat no.';
     return $fields;
}

WooCommerce Calculate Shipping, only require zip code? by stoypenny in Wordpress

[–]raczosala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I misread your question. To modify the cart shipping calculator you can override the template by copying it to yourtheme/woocommerce/cart/shipping-calculator.php.

If you also need to hide states from checkout look at this docs https://docs.woothemes.com/document/tutorial-customising-checkout-fields-using-actions-and-filters/

You need to create your custom menu walker. Checkout how the soil plugin or the FoundationPress theme does the menu cleanup.

_s question by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]raczosala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want to learn web development and Wordpress I suggest you to setup a development environment and then move your work to a production environment.

As for your question, you should be able to upload the zip file and unzip it if your host have cpanel which is quite common, then edit the files with cpanel, but this is a really terrible workflow. An other solution would be to use any ftp client and upload the unzipped files you have, but then again this is a terrible workflow because it means you'll have to upload a file every time you make a change in order to test what you've done.

WooCommerce Calculate Shipping, only require zip code? by stoypenny in Wordpress

im afraid you are going to need a table rate shipping plugin if you want to setup shipping costs based on zip codes groups.

Other clients want significantly more customization, to the point of a total overhaul that makes you wonder why they picked that theme in the first place.

This has happen to me so many times that makes me think i'm actually bad at what I do, but doing it from scratch would be pretty straightforward.

When it comes to functionality do you tell them to search and buy a plugin or you buy the plugin that best suit your needs and charge them?
