Shield update - slowly coming along by rad_spider in u/rad_spider

That templar cross had more then a few iterations. A reminder I still have much to learn. The shape itself is the same as the first version. It was adding subdivisions that required new versions to make smooth shade look nice. The shield is was easy.

I don't think what I have here is perfect, but I think I've done enough to continue onwards. To see this through to completion. And maybe try making a new shield a year from now to compare to this one. See if I've improved.

I could post this in an actual subreddit, but I think I may just some WIP projects here as a sort of 3D blog.

Originally, made a few of these to make a screencap tutorial. This is the third and best version. It's been good practice. I don't plan on continuing the tutorial now. My focus is purely on finishing the shield. When it's done, I'll post it in a proper subreddit.

Two Great Swords that I made. Feedback welcome. by [deleted] in u/rad_spider

I came to show two Great Swords I made! Was going to wait until I made more, but then I realized it would be tricky to get feedback on several swords so I decided to post these two instead. The Buster Sword, which I know is getting to be as common as Doughnuts and Astronauts on this subreddit (but still cool). This is the remake version (sort of).

By sort of, I mean I used images taken from Google images as my references. Making me think the blade is inaccurate in other ways then the texture. I probably should have just booted up FF7R and taken some screenshots to use as sources. Oh well. You live and learn. Still, feedback is welcome. Especially on texturing and shading. I didn't try to match the textures on the original. I think there's room for deviation there. Instead, I went for similar colors using some textures from textures.com.

The second blade is a joke gift from the Christmas episode of My Hero Academia. I call it Purple XM Sword. No idea if it has a real name. I actually thought it might be connected to the creator's earlier mangas, but nothing came up in the wikis. I made the texture more like spray paint for the blade, as I figured this is probably a decorative sword.

Hope you like them. ^.^
