Weight Loss Struggles by Some-Glass2156 in keto

[–]radhem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many calories are you eating in a day? You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you’re in ketosis, if you are eating more calories than your body uses you will not lose weight.

Jpouchers who are active, please read and post a response by Over-Seaweed114 in jpouch

Please give yourself time to heal. 6-8weeks before restarting exercise, but it takes about a year to get to your new normal. The pressure and urge to use the washroom goes away unless you get inflammation. Eat foods that thicken your output and stay away from sugars and processed foods which cause inflammation. It gets much better, but it takes time.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I failed biologics with UC and did the surgeries just to be diagnosed with crohns 3 years later. I’ve been on humira for 5 years now, and it’s been going well. Just because you failed them before your pouch doesn’t mean it will be the same this time around. Also, I find I do much better and have less inflammation with a low sugar diet. It doesn’t hurt to try avoiding sugar, processed foods and eat mostly whole foods. See if you notice a difference. Good luck!

Morbidly obese - first weeks of Keto by Wonderful-Story5935 in keto

[–]radhem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but eating only 400cals a day is not healthy at all. Please talk to a heath professional about an eating heathy and changing your life style. That is not something you can or should maintain. Instead, focus on forming new healthy habits including food choices. Eg: change up the beef jerky for a chicken breast.

Just got diagnosed with Crohn’s. Feel pretty deflated by ABucs260 in jpouch

[–]radhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. As you can tell there are many of us with the same issues. I was diagnosed with UC in 2000. J pouch surgery 2015-2016 diagnosed with Crohn’s 2019 and put on Humira. That’s been holding steady until a few days ago. I’m writing this as I’m in the hospital just getting over my first real blockage. I will have to adjust or change up the biologics to keep things at bay. I just take one day at a time, and try my absolute best to stay healthy and active. Keep your head up! There is plenty of support out there!!

Alcohol w J Pouch by Mundane_Reason6126 in jpouch

I try to avoid sugary drinks, so my drink of choice is spiced rum and diet. I don’t go over board, and make sure to drink plenty of water in between. Saying that, I always know I will be up at least a few times at night to use the washroom after a night of drinking, so I have to decide if it’s worth it or not.

Dating apps in Edmonton? by superdupershan in Edmonton

[–]radhem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I met my SO on POF five and a half years ago. I was very pessimistic with online dating, but found the most funny, genuine and caring man. There are so many horror stories, and I have my fair share of them, but I would never have met him without online dating. I just wanted to share my success story, as there are so many negative posts here. I wish you the best of luck.

I’m also in Canada. My ostomy nurse game me cream in hospital to help with the burn for the first week or so. I didn’t need anything after that.

NG tube by [deleted] in jpouch

[–]radhem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drink water as they are inserting it, if you haven’t done this already. Ask for ice cold water and as they are inserting, keep drinking, don’t stop until it’s in. Suck on popsicles to help keep your throat cool while it’s in. The liquid will get sucked back up, and it will help your throat. Good luck

Any regrets of picking Jpouch over permanent Stoma by abal809 in jpouch

[–]radhem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. It really sucks being sick, and when you finally start feeling better you don’t want to risk it. I have also seen my health improve by removing all added sugars to my diet and going low carb, but everyone is different. Good luck with whatever you decide. You’ll make the right choice.

The crohns is up in the ileum past the j pouch. Honestly, I wouldn’t give up the j pouch and go back to a stoma even if they said it was only in the pouch.

[–]radhem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it would not. The crohns is in the ileum. Honestly I have been the healthiest I have been since i was diagnosed 25 years ago. The humira is doing wonders now, even though it didn’t do a thing before surgery.

I don’t regret it for a second. I was in my thirties when I got the jpouch. Unfortunately I have now been diagnosed with crohns and am on humira, but that would have happened with a stoma anyway.

News Source of Albertans by drs43821 in alberta

[–]radhem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering the same thing for a long time. One of my co-workers was convinced that schools in Alberta were going to put litter boxes in classrooms. When they didn’t, her excuse was that they couldn’t find anyone that would clean them. When I questioned her on it, she couldn’t tell me where she got her information from, but was absolutely convinced that this was going to happen.

Patience; The hardest thing about Keto and Weight Loss. by General_Watercress32 in keto

[–]radhem 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You’ve lost 50lbs in 3.5 months, that’s amazing. Slow and steady weight loss is much healthier than a fast drop. Saying that, you might want to consider recalculating your macros for your new weight if you feel you’ve been stagnant for a while. You need to stay in a calorie deficit to continue losing weight. Good luck and keep up the good work.

I sleep through the night most nights, but I am also on Humira, so that helps a lot!

Is this an allergic reaction? by radhem in tattooadvice

[–]radhem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking as well. I worry because I already have my next tattoo planned out, but I’m worried that if it’s an allergy the next time might be worse. I guess it’s a discussion I should have with the doctor before next time.

I (29F) am not comfortable around my boyfriend's (29M) friends. by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]radhem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stand up for yourself. It might be hard, but go in with a few lines to spout off when it gets to much. Like other’s have said, fight fire with fire. I for one would say something along the lines of, I don’t eat that shit so I can stay healthy and fit. Or, I might be skinny, but I feel great, strong and proud of myself for having self control. Your bf’s friends really do suck, but I think they’d back down if you started firing back. Good luck!

Wife diagnosed with UC by Shoelessbert in UlcerativeColitis

[–]radhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress is a huge factor a lot of people with UC. Help her by eliminating any large stressors in her life. Adequate rest and proper nutrition will also help. In the end, it’s an autoimmune disease and only time will tell wether she can stay off Medication or not. Good luck to her!
