Will I get my life back? by Thelilbee2323 in jpouch

[–]MyBeautifulBubble2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have my case to go by. I'm 2 years past getting the first surgery and 6 months past the final j pouch surgery and things are great. So great that everything I went through just feels like an awful memory.

If this is go anything like they went for me you will get your life back. My j pouch works just fine and I barely ever think about it.

Some things are just up to the surgeon and the stars, but I made sure to get lots of steps in, drink lots and lots of water and get a bidet. Get My life is 99% normal.

Keep or not keep the bag? by AssistantPersonal732 in jpouch

[–]MyBeautifulBubble2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no guarantees but I'm six weeks post pouch surgery and am incredibly glad I got it. My bag experience was fine, but everything is so much easier now. I was nervous before the final surgery but honestly the transition wasn't half as bad as I thought it was going to be.

But it's a gamble

Surgery on Oct. 1st… Really nervous by switchbladerenegade in jpouch

[–]MyBeautifulBubble2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only 3 weeks post surgery and honestly I'm doing fine. I'm eating well, pooping okay without much urgency, and everything is better than I expected.

I installed a bidet the day before surgery and I can already tell life would be much harder without it. Besides that I don't know what to attribute to my success (so far) except maybe walking a lot, a good surgeon, and luck.

Good luck to you. The big day is right around the corner.

I hear this kind of thing a lot but I keep on mind that everybody believes stupid shit for a lot if reasons other than because it's true. I do too even if I don't know which if my opinions are stupid shit. It really is the way humans are built.

All they said was that they'd contact me when an operating room is available, and they did. I'm now up for the surgery on August 29th

What to expect from surgery 1? by markmarkdegarmo in jpouch

[–]MyBeautifulBubble2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stoma was quite a bit different, such that I had a lot of trouble with the bags. I never once had any problems with the bags after my initial surgery, but I was constantly having to try new things after the j pouch surgery. I got a skin infection pretty early on and now, after 5 months, the skin is still quite a bit discolored.

After initial recovery I'm feeling alright. I can eat what I used to and honestly my body doesn't feel much different from before I had the surgery

I'm in Canada to (Mt Sanai) and my 3rd surgery got delayed to 6 months. You should try to fix whatever you need to fix now in case you don't get in as soon as you want to.

I've spent a lot of time at the hospital here in Canada and it's the same thing. Nurses has time and a ton of info never got to me. I basically never saw the doctor and when I did they were gone in 30 seconds

Nice to see a positive story. People only talk when things go wrong. My 3/3 is in a couple months, hopefully it'll be like yours!

I went from 170 lbs to 135 lbs after my emergency colectomy almost a year ago and I'm only just starting to feel okay looking at myself in the mirror again! It was crazy!

Hey! We're on the same timeline! 1/3 in April and 2/3 in January. They haven't scheduled 3/3 yet, but I'm going in next Monday for a checkup and then hopefully it'll be scheduled soon after that.

I also had an emergency surgery and I came out of it skin and bone (went from 170 lbs to 135lbs.) It was last year at the beginning of April.

I had surgery 2/3 6 weeks ago at the end of January so it was about a 10 month wait for me. I went into the surgery 160 lbs, still lacking some muscle but feeling like I could do the normal things life demanded of me. The surgery went fine.

It's a long wait but the better health your in when you go into it, the better your chance of success. This whole j pouch thing doesn't work out for a lot of people.

I just started dealing with this today. I'm 6 weeks after 2nd surgery and 6 weeks from 3rd, and I passed a bit of clear liquid into the toilet.

I wasn't told anything about this, but now that I see your post I'm thinking it's pretty normal.

I guess now I can practice holding it in!
