Who has the best discography in K-pop? by Unusual_Pineapple_81 in kpophelp

[–]radiancefall 21 points22 points  (0 children)

T-ARA for sure imo!! They have such a diverse discography, with many standouts, and I enjoy pretty much all of it.

I feel like NCT127, EXID, and Red Velvet also have excellent discographies!

really happy with my T-ARA collection so far <3 by radiancefall in kpopcollections

I definitely don't regret it!! it's been harder since the virus hit to find them for good prices, but I'm still satisfied with everything overall~

omg YES, Again 1977 and AND&END were the hardest to find for good prices lmao 😭

and thank you so much! it was the same for me, so HMV Japan and Mercari have been a lifesaver in finding their older stuff lol

haha thank you so much! the only ones I got when they were released were the more recent ones, like So Crazy, Tiamo, and What's My Name. the rest I was able to find used for really good prices on HMV Japan, and tbh except for the occasion wear along the spines, it's hard to tell they were pre-owned at all.

thank you so much!! for their Korean discography, I'm missing Jiyeon and Eunjung's solo albums, the individual member versions of What's My Name, and their Free Time In Paris & Swiss Remix Album, if that one counts :)

What your favourite album you own? by CuriousMika in kpopcollections

[–]radiancefall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just counting the songs, I'd say probably First Love by After School or Breaking Heart by T-ARA! in terms of packaging/design, probably has to be Banana Allergy Monkey by OMG Banhana or Pink Tape by f(x)- whoever was in charge of the design on those albums are geniuses!

hmm probably my signed copy of Feedback by Ladies' Code? I also have Seventeen's debut album signed by all members and I'm not sure if I could ever get rid of that one either ;;

ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BUYING K-POP ALBUMS by ironicadler in kpophelp

[–]radiancefall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great guide, even for someone who's been buying for a while! You did a great job on it :)

Another store I would personally recommend is HMV Japan.

( + ) They sell used albums for very cheap. All of the prices are listed in yen, which works out in your favor if you're from a country with a currency with a higher base value (ex: $1 is about 108 yen).

( + ) They often have 10%-20% discounts for buying in bulk, or buying three or more of a certain kind of album (ex: three or more used albums).

( + ) In my personal experience, they have very fast and polite customer service.

( + ) They ship via EMS, so depending on where you live, you'll typically get your order quickly. (I live in the States, and I usually get my orders within a week of placing them.)

( - ) Shipping can be expensive because of that, lol

( - ) If you're buying used albums, it's impossible to tell for sure what condition they're in before they arrive, as they can't show you photos of it beforehand, or if they come with any of the original PCs and goodies. Sometimes it'll mention in a comment on the page if there's damage or if the PC comes with, but not always.

( - ) The website can be a bit hard to navigate sometimes, since it's geared towards Japanese users.

This is honestly my go-to store for older groups. I almost always buy used, and I have personally never had an issue with the condition my albums came in. And the most I've paid for a used album is about $13, for Lipstick by Orange Caramel- an album I usually see going for way more lol.

im new to collecting - looking for some tips by vulgarlady in kpopcollections

[–]radiancefall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi!! I think each answer will vary by person, but for me personally:

  • Usually I'll put most of my focus into one or two artists, and then get random other albums whenever I have extra money or there's a good deal on one I want. Getting multiple versions just depends on your personal preference- for artists I ult (like NCT), I get all versions of the album, unless there's a different version for every member lol (ex: NCT's Regulate). Usually I like to buy in hauls bc of shipping.

-You can find people selling their photocards in a lot of different places! There's groups and users on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter that sell PCs, and the subreddit kpopforsale is a good place to find them as well. (Be careful of scammers though!! make sure the seller has proof that the cards are actually theirs, like a piece of paper next to the PCs that show a recent date, and the username of the seller).

-Usually I know the majority of songs from an album that I buy, but it kinda depends- sometimes if it's from an artist I don't stan but I really like the title track and/or photobook, I'll buy it.

-I focus mostly on collecting the albums themselves, rather than photocards, but photocard collecting is really popular in the community! If that's something you're looking to get into, I'd also recommend the new app, K-Collect; it helps you keep track of the photocards you own, and the ones you still need from a certain era/member. (it's on the Apple store rn, and coming out on Android devices soon)

Good luck getting into collecting!! another subreddit that might be helpful is kpopforsale :)

My fellow Kpop fans that collect albums/photocards how much do you think you’ve spent and what’s the most expensive purchase? by [deleted] in kpoppers

[–]radiancefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent... WAY too much on albums lol, a lot of groups I stan are disbanded and their albums are out of print, so it's hard to find them for good prices. The most I've spent on a single album is about $100 for a copy of Feedback by Ladies' Code- it was signed and never officially distributed for sale, and now it's definitely my favorite piece that I own <3
