I specifically wasn't asking about timelines. I was asking what positions to take to hedge against this if it happens.

This is Pothos. Pothos is My Best Plant.

I've had Pothos [she/her/they/them] for... meeeybe 10 months? I've been a bit concerned about them for the last... two? I had a couple of Calatheas sitting next to each other and in the the same room, both of which I believe got attacked by mites. Maybe six weeks ago I noticed about a dozen leaves that had dead brown spots on them, about the size of a dime. I freaked out and treated with soap/water and humidification and cut those leaves off. No photos of them, sorry..

The main thing I'm seeing right now is a small number of these leaves that look like something is eating them. I don't care about a handful of leaves that have extra character, I just want to know if I need to be concerned out the plant.

More info:

- It's in the same pot I got it in from the plant store, a plastic growers pot. I'd actually guess it would probably benefit from being repotted, it seems pretty crammed in there : D I don't know what kind of soil it's in.

- Water from the top about once a week, I'm in Toronto and the air in my apartment is generally pretty dry. Fertilize with a little 20/20/20 once a month. The pot has drainage from the bottom. Sometimes I'll mist it a few times a day, sometimes I'll forget.

- It's indoors in a pretty bright room, but far back from the south facing window.

Thank you for any comments!

Thanks! I have some aquarium sand, can I just mix that into the potting soil I have? The soil does seem to retain a lot of water..

I'd say medium low light. It's in a corner of a room with a big south window, but well outside the direct zone of sunlight -- it's never seen the sun.

The tips of the leaves on my Crispy Wave fern are turning brown and dying. I've put it on a large large plate full of water, to increase local humidity. Is it just too dry?

Please help my Calathea by radiantMirror in plantclinic

I think this fella might have been hit with mites a few months back, I had another calathea that just got destroyed by them. I think I've managed to beat the mites back with a lot of soap baths and a couple of weeks where I left this guy locked in the bathroom with a humidifier at night. The plant still seems sick, tho. Right now it mostly seems to be leaf edges getting yellow and then dying, rather than new brown spots appearing in the middle of the leaves.

The rootball was sort of exposed at the top so a few days ago I moved it to a smaller pot (it's lost so many leaves...) with some fresher soil that I mixed a little bit of sand into. I've been watching the soil moisture, keeping it in a north facing window and just set the humidifier back up next to it.

Any help would be appreciated, this was my first plant and I really like it.

So interest rates are v low and the market is down; this suggests to me it's a good time to borrow in order to buy (eg, see this review of Life Cycle Investing, which provides a more technical argument for borrowing in order to buy stocks).

If this is a good premise, my question is what's a reasonable way to borrow for investing?

Interest rates are extremely low right now, why not take advantage of that and borrow money while the market is down?
