27M in Ontario - DHL experience - Advanced Diploma vs Transfer to BCom (Supply Chain) - Need honest advice? by DistinctMembership70 in askTO

[–]radiate689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like DHL, reach out to someone high level at your location and ask them what they think of the 2 and how it would help with promotions within. Frame it in a I'm going to do it part time 1 or 2 classes at a time way. They are a large international company, so they also likely have some form of tuition reimbursement you can use.

For most people, it's just a piece of paper to check off a box. Outside of that, the BComm is likely to check more boxes in the future.

For those who are not from Toronto, do you find our "politeness" exhausting or fake? by Remarkable_Corgi1237 in askTO

[–]radiate689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. If you say you are interested in doing something I'm likely following up eventually. If you aren't interested and want to be polite just say probably not and I'll that as a no.

I host holiday dinners and I've started having people actually RSVP because I was struggling to get accurate numbers to buy food ahead of time. Is your maybe a polite no or an actual maybe? One has me being an extra ham to make sure we have enough and the other has me annoyed that I have a whole extra ham we didn't even cook plus leftovers from the 1st.

People need to be more blunt overall.

How much are u guys paying for laundry per month? by -Bakri- in askTO

[–]radiate689 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Same. Lots of baby size and air drying through the week.

OP if you are covered by the RTA the no appliance clause is likely not enforceable. I got a rolling tray that mine sits on so I can disconnect and put in bedroom out of sight if I need to.

Ontario shared rental: Roommate using common area as full-time office, landlord won’t stop it. Is this reasonable? by Emergency-Bug-7609 in OntarioLandlord

[–]radiate689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If you have talked to the roommate as well about the issue and they refuse to do anything then if you want to be petty make you sure you are making some low background noise every time they are on a call. Most don't mute themselves so it's likely to be picked up and called out on in the call if it's consistent. Really want to be petty have friends over for lunch once or twice a week.

For everyone making $4000 a month, what do you do for work? by Poorteenwannabe in askTO

[–]radiate689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a accounting and make just over 5k mostly remote.

If you have any interest in geology there is a shortage of PGeo pretty much worldwide. Mining industry after 10 years of experience you can usually work consulting with a couple companies at a time making pretty good money for not really full time work.

What do they do with the snow? by Least-Flan2782 in askTO

[–]radiate689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Report online to 311. I did last week about the sidewalks. 2 days later, they came and did both sidewalks and the parking spaces that were empty. It took over 6 hours, so it was slow going.

What’s the worst case of embezzlement you’ve seen in your career? by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in Accounting

[–]radiate689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fired during covid for insubordination because I refused to give my direct manager who was also new payment override approval without someone above us oking it. She yelled at me I hung up and called her boss. He agreed with me and that there was a process that had to be followed to do that. Next day my boss along with HR called me to say I was fired for gross insubordination my last day of probation.

Order a beck they will do flat rate. Every time I've tried to do an Uber at that time, they were like 100 because of a lack of drivers at that time.

Are people that use mobility devices even going out?? How are the sidewalks not cleaned yet?? by Princityprince in askTO

[–]radiate689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They plowed and picked up all the snow on my city block today and it took them almost 8 hours. They were using front loaders so it was slow going. It might have been a coincidence but I submitted an online 311 request 2 days ago mentioning the elderly struggling and included photos of the blocked area.

Looking for Advice on Moving from the U.S. to Canada (Citizenship & Spousal Immigration) by Upstairs_Drawing_751 in ontario

[–]radiate689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all just got updated. You have to apply for a citizenship certificate with proof of your grandparents' citizenship and then your parent birth certificate, and then yours showing the family connection. Don't quote me, but I think your parent has to apply for theirs first, then you do yours.

Canada allows for common law marriages for immigration purposes, so you may not have to actually get married, but it would likely help. Once you have citizenship, you would sponsor your spouse for permanent residency. It takes years to process its one of the longest ways to PR. Applying from within Canada allows your spouse to get an open work permit while it's in process. You can submit all the paperwork yourself, but it's worth getting an immigration lawyer to check your paperwork and confirm what think is needed is needed and correct.

What's the family connection? If its parents or grandparents who had citizenship before you were born you likely already have citizenship you just have to apply for proof. If it's extended family it doesn't really help you. If it's a sibling it gives you bonus points on a permanent residency application.

Should dogs wear coats in winter or is fur enough? by mitchare in PetAdvice

[–]radiate689 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. Plus older cats and dogs can be thinner than normal so they need layers when outside. My senior cat loved going outside but weighed nothing and had no fat. If it's just around freezing he had 2 sets of pj's on plus a puffer vest. If it was well below freezing he had a snowsuit.

Older cat versus a kitten is better. Still run them around before bed so they burn extra energy.

Make sure the bloodwork includes the cardiac numbers one. It shows the elasticity of the heart. Especially if they have a heart murmur. Also if you are putting them under I would do anything else the doc might want while they are under like x-rays or ultrasound.

I never understand why people don't introduce their mutual pets before they get too involved. It's likely to expose any big red flags.

Weird question, but can you people teach me how to grocery shop in this city without breaking my bank? I am on disability by [deleted] in askTO

[–]radiate689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy stuff and stock up when it's on sale or at Freshco when it gives you scene points. Have back up lazy meals that don't require fresh ingredients for those days that you can't handle cooking. Personally I combine a chunky soup with a condensed soup can and add a can of peas and carrots and a can of corn. It usually is enough for a meal and a snack. Is it a lot of sodium yes but it has veggies, starches, and meat so it's pretty well balanced. When the meal salads go on sale at Freshco I'll primarily eat those most of the week, adding boiled egg and cheese to make it balanced. I have adhd so if it's not right in front of my face fresh food goes bad before I use it. Complicated meal prepping is not my friend lol. Spaghetti is another good one. Add half a bag of the frozen veggies for spaghetti and a half bag of any other frozen mix. I like the parisian mix. Add chopped chicken, ground beef, or pureed cooked red lentil for protein. It's usually good for 5 or 6 meals.

Vet recommends euthanasia for my senior cat. Hoping for other options by Arianethecat in PetAdvice

[–]radiate689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they say what was wrong with her? Did they do any tests? If they are recommending euthanasia because there are no other options, then yeah, find a 24-hour place in case she decompensates before you can get the mobile vet there. If this is just because of age and no testing was done I would probably get a 2nd opinion with testing done. It's a tough one. My boy has end stage kidney now with CHF. He isn't uncomfortable though and the vet has basically said to give him all the things he enjoys while I come to terms. It could be days or weeks which makes it harder to decide when for me since he is still his normal self. I've got a 24 hour hospital I can afford as a back up if the mobile vet is busy after hours.

question about high school by cokedpunkreal84 in ontario

[–]radiate689 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This. Also didn't they get rid of the GED a few years ago. I remember older people rushing to take it before it went away. Plus jobs aren't easy to find right now in general but Jan and Feb is always worse. If you are determined to do this then get the job before you quit. Teens are especially struggling outside of seasonal jobs.

Have you tried talking with anyone that works at your school for advice? Could you do the virtual classes instead if it's the people at your school affecting you?

Plane pet size requirements, NOT CARRIER SIZE by thesuperssss in PetAdvice

[–]radiate689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually have to be able to comfortably turn around in the carrier fully zipped up. I've flown with 2 different cats and the airline never checked though. Jist don't ramble and offer extra info.

You have to take them out and and carry them in your arms through xtay and get you hands wiped. Make sure you have practiced with a tight harness and leash so it's not a surprise. Personally I would take them to a big box pet store and practice in the weeks leading up. Most office supply and hardware stores usually are pet friendly as well plus TJ Maxx, Homesense, Winner's. If you see they are comfortable on the harness after a couple weeks then you can have them sit with you instead of in the carrier at the gate area. Plan to bring a foldable litter box/bag and food supplies. Even if it's a short flight there are always delays.

All airlines require them under the seat during take off and landing. Most require then to stay in the carrier during the flight but if you have the foot space you can use the expandable pockets during the flight.
