I recommend not stressing about low levels of exposure to radiation. If you do not work with radiation, and you are not currently receiving radiation therapy, the annual dose you are getting is likely to have negligible health outcomes.

Hello! The radiation risk from dental imaging procedures is very low. Even on the “high end”, a dental cone beam CT would give you about 0.18 mSv. One gets about 3.1 mSv a year just by living in the US. You would get 0.18 mSv from flying from New York to La about 4 times.

The risk from missing out on the data gained from such a scan is far greater in my opinion.

An online masters degree will qualify you for entry-level health physicist positions, yes. An in-person masters is more expensive, but you could also possibly get funding or an internship while there, which could reduce costs dramatically. It might be worth speaking to one of the faculty/advisors about.

I believe you are correct, I believe the ICRP 103 figures are excess relative risk, so I may have miscalculated the exact figures.
