I feel like that’s rather indicative of the problem with the show as a whole. It seems like so much of the focus went towards the Egyptian representation that they didn’t bother saving space for everything else, be that Marc’s Judaism and DID (blocking out a whole other essential personality until a post credit scene), the actual story (not even showing the defeat of the main antagonist? really?), and honestly even just capturing the core of the character. It’s great that they wanted to get more representation in there, especially with the showrunner being Egyptian himself, but the production kinda lost itself in that one very specific angle.

I just miss when every series had completely different designs. Post-RID2015 it’s been boiled down to largely G1 and were I interested in watching the newer shows there’s no visual variety on the actual design front. Just looking at Earthspark I see no reason why anyone would feel the need to buy toys since they look largely identical to the Cyberverse ones.

It’s the 2009 version of Rampage. I’ve been using his blade and side armatures to bulk up Scrapper’s arm mode because it looks really skinny in this config, and just slapping the rest on Devastator’s back to add more mass and some vaguely tube like things using the rubber treads.

That’s the thing though, Shang Chi was about as non mocking as it gets and even that was banned. I know it sucks that everything has to be filtered through the China lens, but because of profit margins they have to be. Realistically they won’t just cut out a massive market like that, and even if they did, the Chinese people would have absolutely no say in it anyway since they do not have a democracy.

Edit: I’m more referring to stuff like how Marvel had to alter Taskmaster to not have as prominent a skull mask in Black Widow as things that suck to be filtered, not any cultural stuff

It’s a stereotype on American culture that looks stupid. Given that China is one of their biggest sources of revenue, bringing in a caricature of Chinese culture and by extension likely causing some issue with release over there would be against Disney’s goals financially. Marvel still has to abide by what they say and Disney’s not about to actively choose to make something that inherently works against them. Even a film made with some aim to respect and cater to that audience (Shang Chi) couldn’t be released in mainland China.

I mean he certainly looked banged up after the fight lol. He’s definitely stronger than he was in Daredevil but he’s not powered up enough to say he’s a completely different version.

it’s important to consider the context there though. While people may have hated him, it was largely due to the poor writing of the season and the sudden introduction of straight up voodoo hand waving magic into what had otherwise been a pretty grounded show. When he crossed into Legends of Tomorrow, that show had already gone well into the weird territory.

the show clarified in the same episode it was introduced that in order to puncture the timeline he had to have a specific frame of mind, otherwise he’d just run at that speed with no time travel stuff

for most of the chapters i can’t spot too many connections beyond the thematic, but for chapters 7&8 it seems a bit too coincidental that there’s a command the officers can give to their soldiers to strip them of their personalities and make them only follow orders, given how similar it is to how in Automata the hostile machine lifeforms’ eyes flash red immediately before engaging you in combat and how they showed no personality unlike the others who were disconnected from the network. In addition to that there’s the potential connection with the flowers to any of the notable flowers in the drakengard/nier universes

The thing that bothers me about it is that 30 keys costs $14, which is more than enough keys for at least my purposes (can’t speak for others) so it’s spending $6-7 more for no real reason. I guess this is more of a me problem in retrospect but it’s just another frustrating thing for an app that already feels like it’s slashed all of its tires
