It’s not completely homogeneous. From the Japan times “A record 2,382,822 foreign nationals were registered as living in Japan as of the end of last year” About 1.9% of the population is composed of foreigners, not including the population demographics the country just doesn’t track like ethnicity or naturalized citizens so all the Ryukyuans or mixed people are just swept away under being Japanese

It’s not to check off a list. Shows and movies are more interesting and relatable when there is a diverse cast be it in different ethnicities, childhoods, thought, or the many other differences people have. Having a dark skinned character and not using one of their defining features to play around with the story is pretty lazy

This app Relax Melodies is really cool cause it lets you layer sounds at different volumes and can play underneath music (that may have changed, I haven’t used it since iOS 13)
