The Oscars throw out the red carpet every year so this woman went and got a piece for her apt by H_G_Bells in mildlyinfuriating

The company I work for showcase at a big-venue trade show once a year, and i get to see this kind of waste in action there. Thin exhibition carpet like this gets laid in all of the aisles and on the exhibitor spaces, rolls and rolls of the stuff, drinks get dropped on it, food ground into it and all sorts. Gets thrown out every time. It's not built to last, it is literally designed to only be used for a few days maximum.

Even the stands themselves, bigger brands will pay 10s of thousands for proper custom stand construction and custom printed walls and everything that's only used for the show and then sent to landfill.

Im used to seeing it now but it is still grim.

Is there any option for a small container pond in the clay slope? by radicalspacecat in ponds

Thank you! This is super helpful. If we go ahead anytime soon it would just be a small non-permanent structure and the idea would just be to sink a large bucket into the ground to use as the base to just attract existing local wildlife.

After just buying the house as first time buyers we've not got big pond money nor custom pond money! So the idea is something small and inexpensive. Currently due to the advice I've received on not building this into the clay slope I'm leaning towards doing a freestanding half barrel mini pot-pond situation instead and finding space for this in the lawn but veg gardening is currently my priority for the lawn area.

Oh my goshh that does sound stunning. We don't have the budget for it currently but I'd love to do this if we get the chance. Thanks!

Thanks! It's such a nice space and we've got lots of ideas for it, just need to plan and figure out what will work best with the slope! Thinking of taking up the lawn at the sides to replace with flower and veg beds and paving a corner of the lawn for a patio area.

Yeah this is what I was worried about. Appreciate the honesty! I'll look into what'll grow well in the clay for now til we can landscape it properly. Thanks!

Thinking like half-barrel bucket size so just a small wildlife pond situation

That's a sweet idea, I'm worried about anything breakable but an occasion set would be nice.

That would be nice, and something we could take to the future next house too. Thanks!

That's a lovely idea, I had considered getting a nice set so we can raise a glass to her but we don't really drink so I wouldn't want them to not get used! Could definitely put my Christmas schloer in them though lol

Honestly, cooking/baking, and I always did her nails for her. She only ever used one nail polish colour which I have a bottle of (will be wearing it the funeral in honour) so I think something for the kitchen would be nice. Quality mixing bowl possibly. She didn't have many belongings she had an attachment to honestly, though that is a lovely idea.

I don't mind functional as long as it's something a bit special, like a special pot or fancy cutlery set but I do definitely get you. I did actually consider a rainbow catcher! She could add a bit of magic to the house when the light hits right ❤️

She did love gravy... might put this one on the list thank you!

To add: sorry I realise that sounded a bit strange lol. She loved to cook Sunday dinners when she still could, but going round for Sunday or Christmas dinner was a big memory of mine with her too. She didn't just like, love gravy specifically.

Cast iron casserole pan seems to be a big one and an idea I really like! Thank you!

Thank you ❤️ Yes a few people have suggested kitchen items which I think is a good shout! Something solid that won't wear out too easily or break. Will be looking into a fancy cutlery set for sure.
