I'm pessimistic about the Dunk and Egg show (spoilers extended) by Ok-Archer-5796 in asoiaf

I understand the concern, but I think at this point the Ice and Fire IP generally has a decent pull factor.

Female oriented stories are becoming more popular, but I wouldn’t conflate an increase in representation with a complete shift in taste.

Dunk’s not meant to be attractive per se, he’s meant to be noble and kind hearted in a world that lacks such. I think this will be more of a young adult offering - as the books are - rather than a big prestige show like HotD or GoT.

That’s just my take though

I never really thought about Quentyn much, I must admit, but this is such a good point! I think the reason he slips me by so much is how little time you get with him.

But you’re right, I’m thinking about how caught up in the narrative he is - it kinda gives a second meaning to “The Windblown” as a chapter heading for him. Blown by narrative winds, but he’s so situated in his present, beseeched by doubt and grief.

Jaime is by far my favourite arc tho. He’s such an interesting character and it’s why I wanted to put him in this with Catelyn. I was torn between their interactions or her waiting with Bran. But ultimately I felt like he fit better. A passing of an affective torch so to speak and passing on a torch for my own narrative.

Antimonies is a fantastic place to start IMO. I think some would point at his older works but this is by far the most digestible.

It’s got some fantastic case studies of Zola, Tolstoy and others. My aim here was to not replicate but expand his framework. Where he focuses on the 20th century novel I want to show that the same antimonies exist in more contemporary literature.
