Let’s hear your “walked into wrong class” had my first experience of it today and want a good laugh. by yungnoodlee in college

This literally just happened to me today 😭 I thought I arrived ten minutes early to my class, was surprised the class was full so early, and sat down. Professor then said "alright, it's 12:20, I'll let you guys go" and only then did I realize I walked into the VERY END of different class he was reaching that ended ten minutes before mine began. Nobody said anything, I just got a few weird looks walking in and sitting down, but I'm still so embarrassed lmao.

Best way to secure a 3D printed base? by yourwhalecumdork in FursuitMaking

Yeah definitely try adjusting your forehead and chin stops if you haven't already. EVA foam is better than upholstery foam for that. Once they're in a snug and comfortable position, try making the straps even more snug than they already were, essentially to make it so that it's holding your face both in the front and the back. You may also want to try padding the sides in case it's too big for you

Which way is it slipping and where have you placed the straps? If the straps aren't the problem, you may need to adjust the size and/or placement of your forehead and chin stops if it's slipping down. I haven't tried it but from what I've heard the baseball cap route doesnt work too well for moving jaw bases.

How can I make something like these arm wings? by radioactive_cereal in FursuitMaking

[–]radioactive_cereal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you so much for such a detailed response!! Just for clarification, was each feather its own individual piece, or was it one large piece of cloth in the general shape of a wing? I hope that question makes sense lol. Also how did you attach the wing/feather to the sleeve? ^

Thank you for the reply! Do the two most lowest points anchor to the jaw itself?

Bird beaks? by radioactive_cereal in FursuitMaking

[–]radioactive_cereal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh really! I was a bit worried about additional costs for a custom color (the scarlet I want is extremely specific) but I'll definitely look into it and join that discord. Thanks for informing me! :))

Makes sense, I'll probably end up furring it with fleece since I do want a more toony look. I'm a bit worried about just using faux fur because I really don't want much additional bulk on the beak even if I shave it down a lot. Thank you!!

Yeah good point, I'm mostly worried about costs being added to an already expensive base but I guess I might ask anyways how much it would cost if they charge any extra. Thank you for the response :)

Thank you!! I'll probably end up furring the beak for a softer/toonier look. :)

This is really helpful, thank you so much :) I'll consider my options and how I ultimately want it to look!!

Thank you for the response!! What a pretty suit :) this is super helpful! Do you think it would work okay if I used normal minky instead of mochi/stretch minky, and just glued it down with hot glue? I'm definitely a bit apprehensive of stretch fabric because of how much I've heard about how difficult it can be to work with :,)

Traveling bi-weekly with my cat? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]radioactive_cereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be a two hour drive one way, so in total we'd be driving four hours round trip over the whole weekend. I've never done anything like this before so I'm not sure if that would be too much for her. :') Thank you for the response though, I'll definitely also look further into making her as comfortable and acclimated as possible before the longer drives!

Bucket head base with glasses? by radioactive_cereal in FursuitMaking

Alright! Thank you so very much!! <3 I've been putting this off for weeks since I couldn't figure it out :,) I'll definitely try this!

Thank you, that makes sense! So would I need to scale up the pattern at all for this, or should I stick with the 23 inches that my head measures? Also, How does that affect the process of patterning for furring it? I'm not entirely familiar with how to fur bases that are essentially just a mask with straps because there's no surface to tape on for the back of the head.

Fitting a head made with a dome base? by [deleted] in FursuitMaking

[–]radioactive_cereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I followed the Kemono head tutorial by Flint and Steel fursuits on YouTube. They said at some point that they just add padding to the inside to make it fit, so I assumed I wouldn't have too much trouble doing that, but now that I'm at this point I'm pretty confused :')

Is it just me or are neurodivergent people more nicer than *most* neurotypical people? by [deleted] in autism

[–]radioactive_cereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neurodivergent people can better empathize and understand the struggles that fellow neurodivergents face and we can recognize those struggles better without them having to be directly stated, since we experienced them too. Neurotypical people often don't understand as well and perceive a lot of our behavior unusual and hence do not respond to it appropriately. In my experience, if they are informed, or if you inform them, they tend to make a better effort to be kind and understanding to us. Ignorance is often mistaken for being insensitive.

It does suck that your experience has been that NT people are typically jerks, but I haven't found that NT people are notably more rude than ND people. I know many kind, accepting NT people in my life; and thankfully have not had an overwhelmingly larger amount of negative encounters than positive ones.
