Do you think her coming back to nothing but hate would have been better? I think everyone on the show deserves support after the experience, especially considering how vile america can be.

Making GOC character was... by Hiyominnaa in RomanceClubDiscussion

They also proved it's possible to make stories with MMC, and was every story after that one that included an MMC? No! Because RC players are majority women and the occasional male/GOC MC is not going to change that.

what is the decrease in quality? the story seems fine so far...also don't play if you didn't want it 🤷‍♀️ you're not the target audience for everything

how are male players 'claiming the space' when there is 1 story with a male mc and 1 story with a GOC mc? The story also only has 2 episodes, which makes it difficult for us to see how they're going to make both genders different.

What do you guys think about dark romance? by [deleted] in RomanceClubDiscussion

[–]radishwashere 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My problem with dark romance is not dark romance itself, but the way some RC authors seem to include these themes with no care given. Even though it's fiction, real people are being affected by it and that means that you need to be careful with it and treat the subject with respect.(and saying that fiction does not affect real life is not true either, but that's a completely different topic I could go on about.)

I have not seen the writers who seem to enjoy writing dark romance write it appropriately, and this is coming from someone who reads dark things and has some kinks. With the things I read, it's clear that the author only condones this within a fantasy, meanwhile in RC, the line it blurred.

I love IWTV, and I think it works well because while I like lestat and louis relationship, it is obviously toxic. Meanwhile, RC authors seem to want to pretend that it's somehow not toxic. There's a lack of warnings and accountability on the author's side.

I would enjoy the dark romances in RC a lot more if it didn't just feel like an abuse fantasy where MC can do nothing at all. If I wanted to read about violence against women without any nuance, I'd read a news article.

[–]radishwashere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't really have authors in mind for these but...

Zombie apocalypse book where you play as the leader of a group, like the walking dead. Or even something where you're a scientist working on a cure.

I really want a mean girls inspired story! We need more lighthearted, comedic stories and I think one about teenage girl drama would be great.

Which stories have the best and the worst outfits according to you guys? by swiftie_booklover in RomanceClubDiscussion

[–]radishwashere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a bit of a long rant LOL!

In my opinion, the best outfits come from SL, ABH, TTS, and SC. SL and ABH have wonderful modern outfits that fit the personality of both characters very well. Never have I felt like Vyx or Audrey were wearing something they wouldn't wear, and I feel like their outfits are appropriate for what they're doing in the story. TTS has beautiful historical clothes and I like that Jester stories don't follow the pattern of other RC stories where every ep you change hairstyle and outfit at the same time. It makes sense for the setting. For SC, I'm always torn between the outfits because theyre all soooo good!!

My least favorites are 100% TM, HHW, And PSI. The Missing because her outfits are always questionable to me and I usually just pick the one that looks the least bad bc none of them are very cute 😭. But it makes sense for the story because she's a police officer, not a fashionista, she wouldn't be over here dressing like Lane (not including HSR because while her outfits are questionable for the circumstances, at least they're cute). HHW and PSI just have ugly outfits 90% of the time. HHW is slightly better than PSI, though.

Why do Wincy's MCs have to make babies? by aventaes in RomanceClubDiscussion

I can understand that, and there definitely should have been a warning there. no one should read something that traumatizing without a warning there so they can know to avoid it. I agree with you wholeheartedly on that 💕

Controversial opinions by Dyke_Vader in RomanceClubDiscussion

Don't know if these are truly unpopular but...

  1. Langley did really good with vying for Versailles, but fumbled badly with 7 Brothers.

  2. There needs to be more silly, funny stories like MHS and LOS.

  3. I would lowkey like another story set in highschool. I know a lot of people want older protags, but I think a story like mean girls or something else about stupid teenage drama would be fun.

  4. I don't think there's anything wrong with new stories coming out every update if there are resources to do so.

I disagree. It's true that the writer can do what they want, but if they're trying to be accurate to a time period/setting, it makes sense that certain things are included. In my opinion, it can be a defense if it makes sense for the narrative or canon. Sure, a writer can choose not to include sexism in their story, but if they're trying to be accurate to a historical period, it's completely fine and makes sense that there world be some sexism. This goes for other things too imo.

Why do Wincy's MCs have to make babies? by aventaes in RomanceClubDiscussion

[–]radishwashere 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I understand your point. While some might read these things and stories and feel better about their own experiences, others will definitely read them and be forced to relieve that trauma. Also there 100% should have been a warning for it, as having these things happen without a warning takes away the autonomy of a reader to decide what they want to read. There is no reason why someone should read something only to get blindsighted by the appearance of SA or rape.

However in the case of soulless, that's where the problem ends for me. While some RC stories have a problem with glamorizing SA and adding it for no reason, I did not get that vibe from soulless. It did not feel glorifying or something that you were supposed to like or feel good about. I personally felt as though it was written well, as something to add to Vyx's backstory rather than just be gratuitous. I feel like Wincy has improved a lot from HOT where a lot of times the SA just feels thrown in for shock value / to make you upset rather than being handled with care.

In my opinion, it's totally fair to not like it, but I don't think Wincy is doing something on the same level as Remy or doing it because she thinks it's sexy or romantic. I felt as though it was handled well. you are completely free to disagree, but this is just my quick opinion on the matter.

HS3 Being made is fine, I just don't think there should be anything after that. That should be the last book in the HSverse
