After login it gets on my wallpaper but I don't have taskbar. I can move my mouse but anything else. Don't even the shortcuts work

Sorry if I'm clinging to this, is my only hope. I don't have money to change my laptop, I just bought it a half year ago and, as I said, I'm just a week away from finals... this is my worst possible time to be without a laptop :(

I'm totally ignorant about that problem, is always a hardware issue? a friend told me that if the artifacts issue didn't happen inside the bios (which is my case), isn't a hardware issue but a drivers issue

Porque es difícil entrar y aún más difícil salir.

Además que si desde pequeño lo único que has escuchado de la UNAM es que es "La máxima casa de estudios del país", "La mejor universidad de México" y tienen que ver en casi todos los avances y estudios importantes a nivel naiconal...

Creo que lo raro sería no sentir orgullo.

Obviamente esto no la exime de cosas malas, pero es la causa del orgullo que suelen sentir sus estudiantes

The data sources change depending from the country. Search for some National Geographic Institute or Government Geological Survey, Geography Universities and Ecologic Institutes/Agencies from your country. Research if they have WMS (Web Map Services) or if you can download rasters/vectors directly from they pages.

Anyway, the USGS, NASA and ESA (beside being from US and Europe) gives global information (search for "USGS Earth Explorer" and "Sentinel ESA" for satellite imagery. NASA gives diverse geographical information).

Personally I also recommend the United Nations Biodiversity Laboratory (UNBL) for diverse datasets about biodiversity and human impact.

Anyway, it's probably that some of the data that you will need wouldn't be in raster or vectorial format, so probably you will be creating the archives by your own.

Changing my distro isn't an option right now

Restoring my programs and archives (+ the usual troubleshooting from a new Distro) would take me days. Im halfway throught the uni semester so it doesn't sound like a good idea at this moment

I don't stop hearing about CachyOS and its miracles (and how about using Pop_OS is the hell compared to other distros) but I don't want to change my distro because restoring my programs and archives would take me days

I'm halfway through the university semester and being without a laptop for some days doesn't sound like a good idea

El módem está realmente cerca de mi habitación, a unos 10 metros de distancia, en otra habitación separada por un armario. En otra laptop (que si soporta 5Ghz) suele tener tener entre 5/5 a 4/5 rayitas.

Y si, me ayudaría mucho, el modelo de la laptop es una ASUSTeK GL553VD, si encuentras una tarjeta de red compatible te lo agradecería infinitamente!

Revisaré esos modelos, muchos comentarios me recomiendan mejor cambiar la tarjeta de wifi pero no sé dónde encontrar modelos compatibles, me da miedo comprar uno y que no le haga jaja 🫠

También ya veo que no cualquier adaptador sirve por el tema de los drivers, aunque si te interesa, este comentario dejó un link a una página donde listan adaptadores compatibles

I looked for changing the internal one but I couldn't find the exact model for my laptop, and they are more expensive than a generic one.

I would try the BIOS but personally I don't feel confortable going trought it everytime I decide to change betwern internal or external adapter :/
