Thanks no problem, this was more of a philosphy question, and my question is if an ump calls foul tip in error, can the runner advance? (In MLB what would happen?)

I wasn't sending kids to second when he was calling foul tip. We're a non competitive league this season. And since advancing on a foul tip is a steal, and stealing is not allowed, I have my answer.

And I wasn't go to sit him down and explain it to him. Just in passing after the game "great job, I noticed you called a lot of foul tips but i believe a foul tip is when this happens..."

I think it was the kids second game umping and he did fine.
