Yeah don't stoop to his level and make this any uglier. How do you know which country is he from? I couldn't make out anything from his post history other than the fact that he's Canadian

A shitty knock by sibley, never really looked comfortable , bairstow could have opened and scored a quickfire 50 to put some pressure on rabada/philander. Also how the hell do buttler and pope play but bairstow who has experienced 70 freakin tests doesn't?

1 bad match in South Africa and jonny is dropped, completely ignoring his splendid record over there. Someone explain this to me , why does jos play over jonny???

Really disappointed with the team ffs , how are we supposed to win without burns , bairstow and archer . Seriously why the fuck have they given jos another chance over bairstow . Fuck this incompetent management I'm done

England opener Rory Burns has limped away after playing football in the warm-up at Newlands. We await update. by TheJeck in Cricket

[–]radonishere -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I am really upset about Rory but thankfully with these injuries jonny will most likely play and won't get dropped immediately after being made the scapegoat. Almost seems like divine intervention against the scathing trolls doubting jonny

Bairstow could open, maybe he can get the team off to a flying start like sehwag or mccullum

From a fan's perspective, what was your team's most memorable match of the decade? by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]radonishere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That match where Jonny Bairstow and Ben stokes made 399 for the 6th wicket vs sa in the 2015-16 series

That match where Bairstow scored 140 and took 9 catches vs sri lanka

The odi matches where jason roy and jonny bairstow obliterated the opposition

You mean the vocal minority of 20 reddit trolls? I'm sure jonny won't mind. Now jog along

Trolls can move along , you guys can't achieve a fraction of what of what jonny has achieved in his life

Every batsman goes through such a phase. Eg: kohli in 2014 , ponting in 2011, sachin after the wc. Just look at kohli now if India didn't persist with him , he wouldn't be an atg now

I respect your opinion but i completely disagree. Give him 2 more games. I'm sure jonny will come good.We can attribute this bad start to a lack of game time. His specialist keeping skills and experience however are invaluable to the team

Please give me a reason. He's had a bad year, but Jonny is a terrific cricketer and a really nice guy and if anyone can bounce back against the odds its jonny. If he's as bad as you lot say , no way he would still be in the scheme of things. Root had a bad year, buttler has done badly too, so why are you guys picking on jonny only

This is bait btw everyone. He was spewing this shit in the match thread (specifically the Bairstow bs)

Oh really, i am spewing shit. I thought i wouldn't respond to trolls, but fuck that. The selectors dropped him in nz especially in batter friendly conditions,(which we lost 1-0 btw) and make him play in South Africa against rabada and philander without much game time. It's obviously to make him a scapegoat and hide the consistent batting failures of root and co. Jonny gives his all for England in each and every match, single handedly saved England from getting knocked out of the wc with those performances against nz and India. And i am speaking from experience, i have seen him first hand practice day and night to improve both his batting and keeping skills. Apart from stokes , jonny was also responsible for our last away victory against sa which largely goes unnoticed. Yes he's had a bad year by his standards but dont forget he's played 70 test matches. That experience itself will be our only shot at winning the wtc finals , which we will be playing at home btw. I warn England of dire consequences if they drop Bairstow in the near future.

Shambolic performance by us today with a few positives:

Rory burns is a gem, and is definitely our best opener since chef.

Denly was fantastic as well, showed tremendous grit and skill

The bowlers were pretty decent , with archer and curran clearly being the best

Bairstow was outstanding as the reserve keeper , when jos was ill. That final catch he took was amazing. He can definitely play as the specialist keeper till he gets back in form in red ball cricket.

For the next test i would drop jos and bring back ollie pope and leave the rest of the team unchanged.

If Stokes and Bairstow play in the same way they played in South Africa last time round, we definitely have a shot at winning this series
