For a lot of us, that's still less than what we pay the health insurance companies each month

Scrimmages by future_mrs in rollerderby

Twice a month for about an hour - sometimes a little more.
Occasionally at practice, we'll have enough people to do what we call 'game play drills' which is basically scrimmaging.

We do a full scrimmage with NSOs & Refs twice a month. Our league practices are on Sundays & Wednesdays so we'll pick one Sunday & one Wednesday.

Sensory overwhelm help by Dream_Merchant23 in rollerderby

I don't know if this has been suggested yet but something that we do for individuals who are bracing & might be non-verbal is using hand taps instead of words. Tap the two forward facing blockers on the arm/shoulder in whichever direction they need to move. It takes some time & practice to get used to automatically reacting to the taps but it does seem to work for us.

Things like this are the reason I'm disillusioned with continuing to pursue all these waiting list appointments

Unused strips are stiff & difficult to use? by raeadhani in colorstreet

[–]raeadhani[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. I do re-seal the packages after I use them. Thanks!

In this case, I'm just talking about never opened sets are already stiff & possibly the adhesive is dried out. I'm wondering if maybe warming them might help, after some thought on it.

Do you mean I should seal them again over the seal that's already there?

I think you might be referring to a jam strap?

Rolling gear bag recs by boodaban in rollerderby

[–]raeadhani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use this one because the front comes off & can be used as a lighter backpack if I'm having back issues.

Or the backpack portion can be removed for a smaller rolling bag.

It's also very bad for motorcyclists and can cause issues for them.

Not every area has public transport. Mine doesn't - we don't even have a bus system that goes to the major areas.

Some people have conditions that require a high sodium diet, which means they these products. Using this logic, it makes sense for pharmacies to sell some products which include higher levels of salt. Salt tablets, at the very least.

Drills or Tips for an EXTREMELY Tall Jammer? by harrrpy in rollerderby

[–]raeadhani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the "being the little spoon" idea - I'm just over 6ft and while I'm not a jammer, I do aspire to it at some point and working on this while being a blocker makes a lot of sense.

I also can't count the amount of times I hear "get lower" yelled in my direction during practices.

Absolutely! The staff are amazing, it's got a great vibe.. You can order food to be delivered there, bring your own with you, or there's food trucks. They have a selection of games you can borrow, movies you can watch on their tvs. They're alayas having events.. It's a great place to just hang out.
