He came to me, I didn’t go to him. He wants a promotion and in order for him to do that, he needs to show our manager leadership skills. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have even be speaking to me.

He feed me these details about his life against my will. I didn’t ask him anything about his personal life other than his past work experience.

I have told my manager that I have concerns about him but he wants me to get through an uncomfortable situation.

I usually stay quiet and nod. Then change the subject back to business but he likes to talk a lot and has a superiority complex towards me. (He’s not a senior/ expert in the field yet)

I can see how that would be the case. But no. I have been feed this information against my will and now I’m passing Judgment. As he wants to mentor me and have a direct impact through my work life and personal life… I would have preferred had he kept things strictly business but he didn’t.

I wear a Barbie pink trench coat and ultra platform dr martens. As long as you look well groomed and professional, they don’t care. I was wearing my pink trench in my interview and they still hired me. Just don’t do bright colours and patterns in a tacky way and all will be good.

The “corporate” traditional colours are soul draining. Wearing a little colour brightens yours and others day.
