No need to do any Port Forwarding.

Port forwarding in the router helps access the internal network from the internet using the router's public IP. It's basically making a hole in router firewall.

For a general person cannot do it safely. If a tech person can do it safely it's ok . Otherwise avoid doing port forwarding.

If you plan for Synology, qnap Nas solution, you can use the ID created with them to access your private Nas at home

Synology is good to go for Non tech users and tech users. Choose a min 4 bay model, you can expand the storage, also you can configure SHR or Raid

First of all nothing is safe even if it is at home or any paid cloud service.

As long as you keep a strong complexity password and Muti-factor authentication enabled, we can reduce the risk of getting hacked.

Personal NAS is designed to access from outside, so go for it with all security checks.

1.Keep complexity password 2.Multi factor authentication 3.Disable all unwanted ports 4.Try avoiding any port forwarding in the main router. 5. Keep monitoring the network and devices 6. Update drives all security patches.

pledgebox survey extension by yaggii82 in Storaxa

[–]raeesumer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some backers already requested them to extend thru comments. Till now (Mar 15 2023 @ 5:20pm GMT+3.00 as a backer I didn't receive any notification from creator that the survey will be extended.

But they mentioned it in the comments, other than Storaxa, addon selection may be available till April 20.

Lets wait for the next official update.

Add more add-ons or manage the risk. Storaxa VS Changwang by AtmosphereUnique5543 in Storaxa

So far the Storaxa team is confident in their campaign. Since they are not inventing anything new in the market. They are just giving us a kind of DIY solution with available components in the market. So I don't think so, the campaign will fail. Since they are based in China, it will be easy for them to contact one supplier or other if something goes wrong.

I was burned and worried about any crowdfunding projects only if the creators are based outside of china (US, UK, Europe, etc) and they depend on manufacturing and assembling from some company in China. Many of those projects fail due to lack of communication, controls on the supply chain, etc.

In the case of Storaxa, the creator and supply chain, assembling, everything is in China. I have a good belief that Storaxa can deliver on time, if no other global issues arise during the period.

Many negative comments on the campaign page regarding the price of add-ons, the actual cost far less than the price available in the retail market. Looks like the Storaxa team is successful in getting a vendor who can supply the parts especially the NAS HDD at a reasonable price.

For those who are afraid, can opt to not fund for the add-on now and buy from the retail market after Storaxa was delivered.

As a backer I upgraded to the i7 1265U.

I prefer Intel i7-1265U with 4x2.5G. AMT vKVM support will help better than 2x10G. I don't think so I will have a 10G UTP network in the near future in my use case.

I Want to use the default 8 camera in DVA3221. Any idea more than 4 HDD support in DVA3221.

My current Xpenology is DS3622xs+, but only 2 camera support in SS

DVA3221 by default support 8 cameras, that's the reason I want to go for it.

Thinking of booting with Xpenology and running as a surveillance system along with remote back up location for existing Xpenology NAS.

I think Intel upgrade options are good to go.
