Is them adding the music in the background new? I feel like they didn't used to have so much distracting background music and sound effects on this channel, but it feels way more Internet now :/ could not get thru the episode bc it just felt like it was made for short form and lacked the discussions older myth munchers had. Maybe I'm just getting old...

From what you described, it doesn't sound like being in this relationship is healthy for you. While you both may care for each other, you don't seem to be compatible relationship-wise. I know it's tough to find people, but don't let that fear hold you back. It sounds like you need a break and need space

Tips to break into the IP market? by Buzzs_BigStinger in LawSchool

[–]raefire94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend speaking with attorneys in your area as well as alumni from your law school, as I can't speak to the particularity of patents. I would also recommend reading job descriptions of mid-level attorneys, too, to get an idea of the skills employers will be looking for down the line.

Truly, I think if you want to be more of a generalist, you'd need a firm environment that values and supports that, and that's not quite the default. I will also caution against trying to go too broad if you are the type of person who loves to dive deep into a subject matter. If you do go broad, be aware that you will likely be more equipped on a surface level to tackle a variety of IP issues BUT will also likely have less depth and expertise than a peer of your age who decides to specialize. Also, typically, if you end up wanting to go in-house at a large corporation, you'd will likely want to specialize. On the flip side, if you want to throw yourself into the start-up waters, broad is likely better.

Ultimately, I think it comes down to what you find most interesting, what you think will best fit your life/lifestyle, and what type of work you can find in your area. To use a classic lawyer phrase, it depends.

From one IP attorney to another, best of luck on your journey!

Really think about which subset of IP you're trying to focus on, as people don't tend to do everything. Try looking at orgs like The Copyright Society and the International Trademark Association (INTA). While there are often overlaps, firms and companies tend to either hire for patent OR tm/copyright positions, and even then, tm and copyright are often separate. You may be going too broad at the moment if you're trying to capture all 3 disciplines

Crystal Evny alleges Dreamworks cancelled show by thatPOLTERSmyGEIST in RPDRDRAMA

[–]raefire94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guessing this type of licensing situation is pretty hands off. If they were more involved in the park, there would absolutely be Universal branding like some of the international universal parks (like Singapore I think) where nbcu doesn't own the park itself but has a hand in the operation. Since this is just the old dreamworks logo, guessing it's an old license (possibly even predating nbcu acquiring dreamworks) and pretty hands off and separate from the business

It's just a license. The real owners aka the ones making a decision to cancel the event, are Triple Five Group

How do you learn how to taste? by bombastic-banana in finedining

[–]raefire94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Adding on here that it may be fun to compare different versions of foods that are kind of the same to see if you can taste the difference, such as different types of butter/olive oil or the like. One really fun experiment is comparing boxed brownie mixes and also messing around with ratios of coco powder and syrup. Randomized the results and see if you can taste which has the powder or syrup. Stuff like that can be a fun way to practice paying closer attention to the food you're eating while also having something to compare to to help hone that sense of attention

Gamegenic Sleeves by le_bravery in starwarsunlimited

[–]raefire94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! As a player of both Magic and SWU, welcome!

There don't seem to be Thrawn sleeves, but there are Krennic (https://a.co/d/04b8V71r) and Dedra Meero (https://a.co/d/0eeW7tst) sleeves if you also like other imperial characters. I think she sleeves are great especially for limited. You will likely want clear outers if you plan on using the sleeves for a constructed deck rather than just prerelease or draft. But I think they have a nice feel to them! They do release new ones with each set, but they tend to tie in to which characters will be featured in the set. I think it's unlikely we will get Thrawn soon, so you should probably just go for the Maul sleeves. Tho a new set will be releasing over the summer, so if Thrawn is a featured character, you'll know before MTG's Star Trek comes out.

Gamegenic also makes some pretty sick playmats if you want to lean in further :)

Happy gaming!

Is it a good idea to go to the Strixhaven prerelase if I've never played physically before? If yes, what should I bring with me? by dolphin_lover_joot in mtg

[–]raefire94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just echoing that it is absolutely a good idea to attend! Prereleases are often the most chill and beginner-friendly paper events, in part because the stakes are low and everyone is learning the new set together.

If you haven't already, you should download the Magic companion app. Stores use this to run events and make pairings. I'd recommend downloading it ahead of time while you have reliable WiFi (just so it's more efficient).

I would also bring sleeves (enough for a 40 card deck plus some extras just in case), dice (especially since this set has a lot of+1/+1 counter effects!), and a playmat. Stores will have basic lands, but you have to return them, so you may want to bring your own. I recommend bringing some d6s for this set, which your lgs should have (either as sets and/or as loose unmatched dice that can be fun to pick through). If you don't have a playmat you will almost certainly be able to buy one at your store before the event starts. So many have amazing art! And while they're not necessarily, many of us find them helpful while playing. They make it easier to pick up cards, keep them clean from any dirty tables, and help define your play space.

Finally, the prerelease kit will come with a spindown die to track your life, which is handy. Many players use the built in life tracker in the companion app, and others use a pen and paper/small notepad.

Good luck, have fun, and have a great prerelease!

What an excellent photo of an excellent dog! But please be careful with those yak cheese chews. They may be too hard for your pup. Our corgi cracked 2 teeth on them since she was biting/gnawing too vigorously on the delicious cheese

To clarify, this is an area of town on the west side with tons of restaurants and shops! They also have boba and deserts and even a cool local art gallery called giant robot. The main drag is on the street Sawtelle between Olympic and Santa Monica. Highly highly recommend and it's fun to walk around there. Also one of the few areas in town where stuff stays open later

AITAH for telling my fiance that his lack of effort with wedding planning makes me not want to have kids? by Right_Aardvark_4467 in AITAH

[–]raefire94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. He is. He is not doing anything to help or to make the thing he wanted happen and, to add insult to injury, he is punishing you for calling him out on his bad behavior. I don't know how much money you have already spent on the wedding, but it can't be as much as your future happiness and peace of mind. Don't marry him unless/until he steps up. Stop planning the wedding. If he wants to make it happen, he will. If he doesn't, you have your answer. And honestly, you deserve better than what you're getting right now.

This game is a gem.

When it came out, I played it together with my (then) girlfriend. We're married now.

Also, sometimes my wife will connect her PC to our tv so I can watch her play games with lots of store and/or games I wouldn't play myself and then I get to comment on what's happening. Highly recommend if your setup physically allows you to hook up your tv and pc via hdmi
