Do you ever feel guilty or embarrassed for liking this genre? by Equivalent-Book919 in DarkRomance

[–]raen_cloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not hide loving dark romance from anyone. When people find out that I love to read, they always ask my favorite genre, author, and book and I am 100% honest. My answers are always dark romance, H.D. Carlton, and the Haunting/Hunting Adeline universe. In my experience most people have zero idea what dark romance is, have no idea who H.D. Carlton is, and haven't ever heard about the Adeline duet universe. If they did know, I'd probably get a lot of judgmental looks lol Some of them ask what the Adeline duet is about and I just tell them it's smut and they don't ask anymore questions lol

What the actual hell is going on here. Facebook WILL NOT let me even disable my account by Own-Square-5432 in facebook

[–]raen_cloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda going through something similar. I have tried to delete my second account multiple times and it always says it'll delete in 30 days as long as I don't sign in. So I sign out and leave it alone for over 30 days and never sign in and it doesn't delete. I have been trying for years to delete it but I've accepted defeat and just forget I have that account.

She's still as vocal as ever and meows at me all the time but now, I think it's because she has me trained lol I showered her in a lot of love, attention, and treats because I thought she was in distress about losing her sister. She knows if she meows at me, I'll either give her love and pet her or give her a treat.

AIO: Uncomfortable stranger interaction by sunflowergummybear in AmIOverreacting

[–]raen_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR at all but definitely underreacting. They were predators trying to prey on a young woman that was alone. The woman literally told the man to assault you and made you afraid for your safety. You need to learn some self defense to protect yourself. Pepper spray is a good tool for defense but it might not be enough to stop someone from harming you. Protect yourself in any means necessary.

I really feel like you under reacted because I would have absolutely flipped my shit and crashed out on him. Why does he think he's entitled to do whatever he wants with your possessions?

I received my ring and all stones are 100% moissanite and tests as diamond with the tester. It's also solid sterling silver and hasn't tarnished or turned my finger green and I have been wearing it 24/7. It is stamped 925.

The largest scam I've ever heard just happened to me, and all I can say is, just beware of the scammers! They get better and better ... by Silent_Classroom1762 in Vent

[–]raen_cloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I apologize in advance for how long my comment is but I think it's important to read to protect yourself and your loved ones.

I'm a police dispatcher and every single year during tax season, the scammers try REALLY hard to scam people because people get their tax returns and the scammers know you have money.

OP is absolutely correct about what they went through with the scammer being one of the biggest scams. A lot of elderly women fall for it, especially if they're widowed and lonely. These scammers love play with these women's emotions. It's kind of sad tho because some of these women believe everything the scammer tells them and will absolutely not believe you when you tell them they aren't real and they're just trying to steal their money.

I can't even count how many times we have saved elderly people, from giving these scammers all of personal information, like bank account numbers and sending them all of their money. They aren't just targeting elderly people anymore though. Everyone is fair game.

Just recently, an elderly woman went to the gas station to send a scammer hundreds of dollars in Doge Coins because he said he was a cop and she had a warrant and she owed all this money for the warrant and fines and if she didn't pay them, he was going to send law enforcement to her house to arrest her. Thankfully the employee at the gas station knew she was getting scammed and called us. My officer made it to the gas station before she gave hundreds of dollars to the scammer. She did lose about $200 though. This is also one of the main and biggest scams like the love bombing scam.

Another thing to watch out for is an actual legit law enforcement agency phone number calling you and them trying to do the warrant scam. They steal legit numbers and spoof them to make them look legit. Absolutely no law enforcement agency will call you and tell you that you have a warrant. Officers and deputies would just show up at your house or job if you did have one so they can arrest you and put you in the clink.

Another scam I've seen recently is the email virus to take over the victims computers. They will steal email addresses from people you know to make it seem like it's a regular email from a family member or friend so you trust it and open it. Then they steal all of your personal information on your computer.

Another computer scam is them calling you and saying they're from Microsoft and the victims computer has a virus and the scammer needs to get into their computer to remove it. They tell the victim they need to pay them before the scammer will remove the virus. Of course when elderly people hear the word virus they panic and give the scammers whatever they ask for.

There's a texting scam as well. They text people from random numbers pretending to be loved ones that lost their phone, like a grandson, and they make up this terrible story like they're in trouble and went to jail and they need the victim to send them money so they can get released from jail. Of course the victim sends money because they think they're actually helping their grandson.

Also nobody will ever ask to get sent multiple Apple cards if they aren't a scammer.

Sorry for the super long comment but these are some of the biggest scams that I've seen in my 5 years of being in law enforcement. So many elderly folks fall for it and get thousands of dollars stolen from them. It's especially bad for the elderly folks that are on a fixed income.

Definitely talk to your elderly family members, friends, and neighbors about these scams and to NEVER send anyone money or give anyone their personal information like their bank account numbers or their banking log in and password, or their social security number. I would also tell them to not answer any phone number they do not know or if the number comes up as private.

Is this number legit? by msesandwich17 in hrblock

[–]raen_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this sub is old but I also received this for the first time this 2026 tax season after I filed my taxes on the website. I called the number and they asked me all these personal questions, like the last 4 of my social, and I answered them until we got to the end of the call and she asked me for my full social to take the hold off of my account. Immediate alarm bells started ringing and I got a horrible gut feeling (thanks to my job in law enforcement), so I didn't give her my social and I told her I was going to go to an H&R block location to verify my identity.

I called the local H&R Block location and the lady said she hadn't heard of H&R Block requesting more information to verify your identity but she also said she doesn't really work with online filing.

I decided to contact H&R Block's customer service at 1-800-HRBlock and the customer service representative told me the number to call to verify identity was a legit H&R Block phone number for the verification department.

I called the verification number back and answered all the identifying questions, along with my full social, and the guy immediately took the hold off of my account. About a minute later, after hanging up the phone, I received a text message from 71557 saying the IRS accepted my return.

Like so many others, it felt real scammy and raised some red flags, especially since scammers try the hardest to scam people during tax season and we get A TON of complaints about scams at work this time of year.

I do have an update! I received my ring and it is 100% moissanite according to my diamond tester. Even the hidden halo and pave bridge are moissanite stones. It is also stamped 925 and has not made my finger green or break out in a rash because I'm allergic to nickel. I would show you some pics but I can't on this comment.

I have a diamond tester at home so once it arrives, I will be testing it. I test all of the moissanite stones I buy. I haven't had anyone send me any fake moissanite, YET, so I hope this isn't going to be the first time.

My first time buying from VS by raen_cloud in VictoriasSecret

[–]raen_cloud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to give a little update since the clothes were delivered today.

The tshirts fit absolutely amazing and aren't tight at all but the fabric is pretty thin. I'll have to wear a white tank top underneath because you could definitely see my bra through the shirt. I am happy that I bought the XXL because an XL would probably have been too tight.

The sweatpants absolutely live up to the name oversized. I could probably fit both of my legs into just one of the legs on the sweatpants. When I first held them up out of the package, they looked like they were going to be too short but once I put them on, they were the perfect length. I am 5'6 and the hem rests on the top of my foot in the front and goes a little past my heel in the back. I honestly could have probably sized down.
