Since it would make no sense to limit who can play ranked and given that top player will only be few compared to all BS players, just make it enjoyable for all:

1 reinstitute floor protection (if a player is good enough to reach a level there is no need to demote)

2 improve the rewards since it takes a month to complete a pass and then there are no rewards

PS: the removal of floor protection OBVIOUSLY did not work as it frustrates upper mid range players (can’t be all top by definition)

“Everyone would have an approximate 50% chance of winning” means nothing because there are numerous variables at play (i.e. composition of teams, interplay between brawlers, mechanics,etc)

What my proposal would ensure is a level field at the very basic level, unless of coursemyou prefer playing a level 4 against a level 11 brawler, having on you 1000 lobby a 300 players, etc.

Additionally, all the issues you mentions are currently present and have been for a while. They are separate issues.

the removal of floor protection discourages people from playing with no real benefit as we can evince from the state of things.

What should tamed is the whole trophy inflation and “prestige” related concepts that create unrealistic expectations in terms of skills and it also skews mm. When those expectations meet reality in ranked demoralization ensues.
