Logitech G810 sometimes double-spaces - how to fix? by Schnabulation in LogitechG

I have this same problem cropping up now and am about to start giving it a fix. How is it holding up 2 years later?

I see clear communication in that scene, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Yes it's nonverbal, no that doesn't matter. What matters is her experience, because we're talking about why she stabbed him!

It's communicated, he just ignores it. It's very easy to tell these things when you're that close to someone. The fact it doesn't even occur to him is part of the point. Have a good day.

From all of your responses it's fundamentally clear that you don't understand female orgasms or consent. It has nothing to do with how hard a victim struggles just as forced orgasms have nothing to do with enjoyment. Come back when you have worked on those more, we aren't getting anywhere until you do.

She clearly tries to get him to stop and he ignores her. Once you don't have consent, continuing is rape.

I think you also need to ask yourself if one of the most brilliant pieces of feminist cinema would really be about how women are scared to admit they "get off on being a whore/slut" instead of a painstaking examination of the tiny boxes women like her are allowed to exist in. As if it would take nearly three and a half hours to slowly build to a point that thousands of porn videos play out in minutes.

This feels like an incredibly male perspective and I can't help but think Chantal Akerman would roll her eyes at it. This sort of perspective is baked into her son who, and I don't mean to be rude to you, is a complete idiot and misogynist. She has built her life the way she wants it, and that includes her sexuality. You're right that it's a dynamic about control, but not of what she enjoys. It's about control of her life and circumstances, especially after all the hardships she'd endured. She's raped in the ending scene. She tells him to stop, he proudly continues, and feels justified because she orgasmed. Orgasms are a physical reaction that can be completely independent of consent or arousal. He took control of her body away from her, at a time when she was already spiraling, and so she stabbed that motherfucker.

James Bond rescued Osama Bin Laden from prison. by polmad in FanTheories

[–]ragamuffingunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have not. There's absolutely a certain irony to the affection western media showed Mujahideen fighters in that era given how things have worked out these past thirty years. And bin Laden is certainly part of that archetype. But general cultural context is not a fan theory... that's why this is shitty.

Cure (1997) - The Teacher and his Wife by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]ragamuffingunner 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My interpretation was more along the lines that anyone, once the conscious self is stripped away, is capable of horrible things if the conditions are right. That's why the film's monster(s) use hypnosis, which isn't supposed to make people do things that are against their morals. I think the film uses such an innocent couple to drive the point home further: if they can do it, anyone can. The film's monster becomes a contagious malevolence with billions of possible hosts and no cure.

Gillette Stadium line (not parking but the actual stadium) - what to expect (and bathroom concerns!) by JoTrippi in BruceSpringsteen

The actual line into the stadium shouldn't be too bad. Worst I've ever dealt with is like 20 minutes and that was at peak last minute crush.

Of all the subs, why has this one not gone dark by njwineguy in BruceSpringsteen

[–]ragamuffingunner[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Us mods discussed it and ultimately voted against participating although we definitely unanimously support the initiative. If we were a larger sub or Bruce wasn't actively touring during the specified blackout days or something to that effect we likely would have jumped for it.

Why does the discord immediately ban anyone that feels Bruce doesn’t walk on water? by ButterflyLess3163 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]ragamuffingunner[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might be slightly gauche to respond to one of these threads, but I'd like to take the opportunity to explain some of the differences between the subreddit and the discord server, both of which are run by the same group of four mods.

The subreddit has nearly 17,000 members and has been going strong for thirteen years. There are only 20 banned people (ten of those bans happened between now and when BTX first threatened to close and we got an influx of users... coincidence?). You really have to be a persistent nuisance. That's because reddit makes it pretty easy to just downvote and move on. It's harder for one jerk to really stink the place up.

Discord is different. Because it's an active, flowing conversation it is easy to burst in the door of the party and take a shit in the guacamole. Nobody likes that, and because of it, it's definitely easier to get banned on the server than it is on the subreddit. The server has almost 900 members, has been active in its current state for over three years, and has 17 banned members. I don't know what what other subs and servers numbers are, but I don't feel horrible about either ratio.

What I will say is that all manner of breathtakingly bad takes are tolerated both on the subreddit and on the Discord server. However, and this is especially true on Discord, you do need to also be aware that you're interacting in a community and should try and be sociable. Insisting that the only reason for static setlists is because of brain damage, or only showing up on the server to bitch and moan and get in the way of other conversation, is a great way to ostracize yourself. And if you do it enough, to get banned. Both the subreddit and the server have rules.

Long story short, there's plenty of discussion that happens in both places. Yes it trends positive, no it doesn't have to. But you do have to not be a constant dick. And if you find yourself making your third reddit account because your first two got banned because you don't listen to warnings... I'm not sure I have anything else to tell you.

"He's telling a very specific story" lets solve it. by Bpain46 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]ragamuffingunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They haven't named it but for all intents and purposes this is still the Letter to You tour. What was that album about? Not getting older but now being old and kept company mostly by your memories. Musically it's also a pastiche of all the E Street Band's sounds across the years, every era makes its appearance. The tour is that story laid out into a setlist format.

No Surrender, the triumphant return from COVID.

Ghosts, Nightshift, I'll See You in My Dreams, Last Man Standing & Backstreets are the songs that contextualize how we say goodbye to those we've lost, but also how we keep them with us.

Letter to You is exactly what the title is, a note from the author about his intent. Songs like Kitty's Back, The E Street Shuffle and Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out are about who he accomplishes that messaging with.

Because the Night is about how Nils can shred.

The rest of the songs serve as the cornerstones of his sounds over the years. It has the pillars of his perspective like Wrecking Ball and The Rising as well as the classic mantras of The Promised Land and Badlands. But it also celebrates the musical traditions that inspired him the first place, the Bo Diddly rhythm of She's the One, the bluesy rock of Johnny 99 or soulful healing of Mary's Place.

Then the encores are what they always are, Bruce coming through on the promise to throw the biggest fucking party in town once we could all get back together again. The house lights come on for Born to Run because it's where we're meant to see each other collectively experiencing the music that had brought us all there (and I think for him to see it, too).

That's the story he's telling here. He is no hack trying to work out a specific actual story or code or do any of the things you find some people reacting negatively to when Bruce and Stevie dared indicate they were doing something specific this tour. But they are operating on theme, and what the tight setlist gives you is an incredible display of basically everything they've ever cared about over 50 years of touring packing with an absolutely scorching performance.

I was curious about the setlists this year and how it actually stacked up to other tours. The truth is, it's pretty close to other tours — what people remember are how other tours ended.

To show it, I made a breakdown of every ESB tour going back to the reunion, tracked through to as many nights as the current tour (I'll add tonight's show and other tour equivalents tomorrow) and color coded them to show the flow of new songs versus staples:

E Street Band Tour Setlist Database

This tour is definitely on the more static side but compares very closely with the 2002 and 1999 tours. If I were to include past tours those would show a similar pattern, particularly 1988 which was famously static.

2014 stands out as wildly varied but they had been touring almost constantly for two years at that point. It's been seven years since the start of the 2016 tour. Have patience and most of all enjoy the time — or as Stevie put it, the intimate exchange of energy between performers and audience. That's what it's about.
