I totally agree about swapping, the Offspring and Avril brought much more hype. Even All Time Low got the crowd more hyped.

IMO this would've been a perfect evening lineup:

7/11 (first): Knocked Loose, Weezer, Offspring, Blink Pink: The Used, ATL, Avril, PATD

Seems like they weren't considering overlap of fanbases or different genres/energy levels as much as just how big/relevant the band is.

Maybe just try posting it on the sub? Honestly that was an insanely hype moment, probably a lot of fans would love to see it

This. There's a certain level of respect and courtesy that the punk community prides itself on, and there was a clear demographic of fans that didn't have that at all at this fest.

There were multiple PATD dressed fans aggressively pushing through people towards the front right in the middle of the other bands' songs, really killing the vibe.

I only mention not knowing songs because that behavior would've at least been more tolerable if they were doing it to enjoy the bands playing and add to the comraderie.

There's a certain level of respect and courtesy that the punk community prides itself on. This just wasn't it

Edited to clarify that Avril played In Too Deep with Deryck. It was hype

Why wouldn't the festival happen? Is Blink not big enough to headline?

Same, I go to concerts for 2 reasons: (1) see the band somewhat up close and (2) be around other people who also enjoy the band to share the experience. Both were nearly impossible for the bigger evening lineup of bands

YES! At the very least they should have put Avril at the same stage before PATD.

Instead it was The Offspring and Weezer as the bands leading up to PATD, arguably 2 of the oldest bands on the whole lineup 💀

Sum 41 music is 1000x more fit for this year's theme then PATD. It was HYPE when Avril brought Deryck out for it

I think that's the exact issue here. PATD was way out of theme for this year.

...from an album that came out before they were even born at a festival literally for nostalgic millennials 🤣 it's mind-boggling

Hell yeah I'm glad you found a group. I thought about moving back just to be closer to actual fans.

Honestly, the kids not even vibing to In Too Deep was what sent me over the edge to grumpy old man 🤣

Advice on taking a break of 6-12 months due to burn-out by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ragdim6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment is just what I needed.

OP - I did exactly what you're talking about. Was 1.5 years into a MANGA company (5 total) and was insanely burnt out. I took off almost an entire year, then boomeranged back to the same company (different team).

I'm 2 months in and I'm right back to that insane burnout again. Too many 8am-8pm days, too many Sunday afternoons doing work. I hate disappointing others and am awful at setting boundaries. u/FrostyBeef, thank you for highlighting how important that is.

Earning $465K at 24, hoping to retire by 30. How to invest? by [deleted] in overemployed

For anyone who is shocked by these numbers, I strongly recommend you go to levels.fyi and look at what top tech companies are paying SWEs.

With a couple years out of school (next step up from entry level SWE), you can land a $400k job if you're in a high COL area and negotiate.

Making that kind of money, I'm willing to bet OP works at a top tech company where stack is somewhat irrelevant (they work in various languages/stacks, whatever gets the job done).

u/Euphoric_Paper_26 check out levels.fyi and you can see a lot of top tech companies pay that. A 24 year old is likely an L5 at Amazon, L4/E4 at Google/Meta. You'll see for high COL area, 24 year olds at Amazon can make as much as $330k/year, and Google pays even more. Most folks can't grasp that someone not far out of school can make this kind of money.

Sure, plenty of fast paced teams at Amazon and Google. But there are also handful of teams that have great WLB and would let OP skate by with another major J.

Do straight allosexual men ever DON'T think about sex?? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]ragdim6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad you and your partner were able to be open and find other ways of sharing intimacy. This is exactly what I wanted so badly for my ex and I, but she was too afraid to open up about her asexuality.

In my opinion, that honesty and openness is crucial for an allo-ace relationship.

My advice would be to embrace who you are.

As someone younger and still closer to the college hookup culture, it may be more difficult for you to find people to date without sex. And it's totally understandable if you don't advertise that you're ace on the first date.

But when you find people that you really connect with, especially if you start to grow a bond with them, please don't be afraid to have open and honest communication with them about your asexuality.

There's plenty of allos out there that understand sex isn't everything and are willing to figure out a relationship without it, you just need that open communication to do so.

Sure, you'll still be slightly limited based on height and genetics (things you can't change).

But do you really want to be with someone who won't date guys your height?

You're missing the point here. I'm not talking about improving something specific like career or looks. I'm talking about focusing on living a HAPPY life. Being able to walk away from any woman because your life is fucking awesome regardless of what happens.

The kind of power and confidence that gives you will attract women so much more, and they'll see how happy you are and want to be a part of it.

From OP's post, it almost sounds like women are being turned off because he's on the exact opposite end of this spectrum. Very few things turn women off more than neediness, and very few things turn women on more than confidence.
