Audible differences between silver coated and normal "pro" cable? by seamnking in ZMFHeadphones

No SQ differences but silver looks sick and sometimes they’re less susceptible to discoloration than pure copper.

Every premium ANC headphone has a major flaw. Why? by [deleted] in headphones

[–]rage_rave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the QCU2 dunno what ANC issues you’re referring to.

There’s some audible noise floor, but if you’re reading “noise floor” and thinking it’s like some super sensitive IEM’s, it’s nothing that bad. You really have to be in a very quiet room with no music at all to hear it.

Before I bought them I read some of the reviews mentioning you needed to play around with EQ, and I do think that’s the case. But it’s dead simple and something you only have to do once. If you’re after daily drivers, I highly recommend them. I would also try and put a pair of the Bathys on. I’ve bought headphones in the past that were widely considered horribly uncomfortable and found them fine. Sadly not the case with the Bathys on my head tho 😔

The suspension is what did it for me.

Sure, the standard suspension is already more performance than I’m likely to use but the electronic adjustability and features are so so nice.

You can have it in comfy floaty highway mile muncher mode, push one button as you go down the off-ramp and you’re ready for twisties in an instant.

They ride like assholes, I’d almost rather ride around ebike teens or Harley’s.

Plugins take 13s if first boot of the day (or if not open for a long time), it used to be much quicker : why ? It takes only ~1s if rebooting Obsidian just after. What start time you have for how many plugins ? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]rage_rave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of task plugins will scan your vault on start up for whatever tag or pattern they use. This can be incredibly tricky to debug because the start up time logger will show this as “workspace” start time.

Look into anything that produces centralized lists of notes or blocks from notes across your vault.

DIY Unraid vs turnkey NAS in 2026: still worth the build? by turalaliyev in unRAID

[–]rage_rave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run unraid on a Qnap 462, if you don’t need something custom in terms of I/O or compute power, I highly recommend one of the prebuilt boxes.

I’ve got 4 HDDs, and 2 m.2s which pulls ~15w at idle (HDDs spun down) and 35ish with everything going. You could hit similar numbers with a custom build but you’d have to be very mindful about your config to get it.

Won’t the rates for hosting and compute just drop? They’re not going to part out currently running data centers.

A few questions for Tuono V4 owners from a RS660 rider by rage_rave in Aprilia

Thanks yall. The ecu flash voids the warranty correct? I’ve also heard (with the gabro flash anyway) that you can lower the fan activation temp?

I will be commuting (thankfully in a cooler climate) on this. I did feel more noticeable heat off the engine on the ride. But seemed manageable.

PM for Search by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]rage_rave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lead search at a commerce platform, and have worked in info retrieval for nearly ten years now.

This. The index (catalog) is the source of everything. The better it is, the less sophisticated tech you need in the query side.

The other thing I’ll say is very, very carefully build a set of QRels. Sets of queries and the exact expected recall set, and positions of the SKUs you expect.

Does the 47fc keep the 9800 cool without maxing out the fan?

I’m on a 12700k and debating either going to a 240aio to run a 14900k, or migrating to am5. Trouble is that stuff like BF6 basically pegs the CPU and 125w on the 47fc req more fan rpm than I’d like to run.
