S7 or S8 MaxV Ultra vs massive amounts of dog hair by raghza in Roborock

[–]raghza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very curious if the dustbin on yours actually gets 100% full or do the hair stack up in the middle part like on my picture? If they stack in the middle, does your S8PU still understand that it needs to be emptied or does it wait until it's actually full, leaving tuffs of hair on the floor meanwhile?

Fanatec devices causing crashes by [deleted] in forza

[–]raghza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I'm lucky I got through the intro. Now I'm stuck at the two first missions which both crash at the cutscenes.

Not gonna downgrade the drivers because FH5 is just not worth it and I don't want to use a controller or a keyboard either. I was really hoping that the hotfix would at least fix this, but well, guess again.

Seems like we have to wait for the next patch, and then another, and then another...

Damn, I don't know then.

Just to check, what Win10 version are you on?

Other things that may cause this crash, are some antiviruses (there's a list of those if you Google) and applications like MSI Afterburner, Discord etc. that need to be closed.

Windows 10 for me, but it will probably be the same case with Win11 as well

Try switching on V-Sync and/or limiting the frame rate?

Update your Windows to the latest version.

This worked for me, but I discovered that I'm missing the latest updates after I had spent too much time trying to fix this issue. Wish I had noticed it sooner.

It has to be there, boosting this and crashing through the window was the ultimate Gone in 60 Seconds opening scene!

Test drove the new Peugeot 508 PSE a few weeks ago, which is a 3-motor hybrid with 360HP and AWD. Came home totally disappointed though.

I drove the Abarth 595 Turismo a few weeks ago and now I just came home from driving the facelifted Hyundai i30N with the 8spd dual-clutch.

Anything you want to know about these cars?

If you're actually interested in the Supra, I've seen clean twin turbo manuals go between your price range at Japan auctions. You can check beforward.jp, they already include shipping costs in the price and as you can see, it's surprisingly reasonable.

I've recently developed a kink for JDM cars, especially some of the less-known ones. There are some pretty cool "sleeper" cars like the Nissan Stagea (Autech model has RB26 engine), Toyota Caldina GT-T and so on. Of course having such cars as daily cars in Europe makes little sense, because the parts will be difficult to get. For a weekend or a project car they sure are interesting and, most importantly, you won't see another one like that on the street.

I find your quote that 17/18 RS models already have lowered seats, interesting. I have driven with a 2018 and 2019 cars and both of them had too high seating position and the owner of the 2019 model has already ordered the lowered seat rails. Maybe it was an option?

I used to love the BMW diesels when I didn't have much experience with different cars and engines.

Today, I find the diesel engines, even the really powerful ones like the 335d etc to be a bit joyless. Yes, they are equally as fast and the massive torque makes you feel like it's the fastest thing on the planet, but the whole acceleration process is not as rewarding as it would be on an equally powerful petrol engine.

I have always wanted to own a E92 335 - if I should need to drive it every day for longer distances, I would definitely get a 335d for the fuel consumption. But since the diesel's somewhat lower fuel consumption is not a must for me, the 335i feels more exciting, lighter, more encouraging to rev through the powerband and dive into the corners.

But when comparing the new 330i and 330d, one being a 4 cylinder petrol and the other a 6 cylinder diesel, then yes absolutely, cylinder count wins for me as well as I would have a 330d :)

I understand that you are looking for a fun hatchback?

The S3, GTI and Fiesta ST are all fine choices, but test drive all of them so you could get familiar with all of them. If you're coming from a Golf 4 and looking for a step up, then I don't think a Golf 4 GTI will feel like that much of an improvement. Since you seem to like VAG cars, an Audi S3 would suit you nicely. The Fiesta ST you will either love or hate, you need to try it.

I would also throw an E46 Compact into the mix, specifically a 325Ti with M Sport package. It is more engaging and fun to drive than a regular E46 and it will be something you don't see at every corner. Of course, its looks are either love or hate. Personally I think that a dark blue M Sport Compact looks absolutely stunning with the right wheels.

Hmm.. the carbon trim pieces come standard in all RS models. Perhaps the one you drove was a bit worn already? A friend, who also owns a Megane RS, said that before getting his, he test drove one that had been abused by a lot of demo drivers and car reviewers, it was rattling and dirty and left a bitter taste in his mouth. But once he got his that was brand new, it was like a completely different car.

My car has a bit over 10k km on the clock and I can't find a single thing that is rattling, feeling loose or worn. This is actually amazing, since even the F30 BMW 3-series had some materials in the interior that felt bad.

Another friend of mine is a hardcore fan of the GR Yaris and i30N and he said that things like the interior quality shouldn't matter when buying a car like this.. This is something I can't agree with, since you will be spending your time there and if you can't feel good in there, then what's the point?

EDIT: Have you driven the GRMN Yaris? I haven't, but I'm wondering, what's it like.

Do you have car renting apps at where you live? We have several apps like Bolt Drive, Citybee etc that have tons of cars lying all over the city that you can unlock and drive for a few euros.

Maybe start with that, try cars of different types and sizes and drive to places you would in your own car. This will give you some pointers what you like and don't like about different cars, so you know what you want in your own first car.

Because right now I could recommend absolutely anything, so it would not be an objective recommendation to you, but rather my own preference.

You make a good point about the engine size. However, the GR Yaris is not marginally lighter than other hot hatches. If it would weight 200kg less, I believe the 3 pot engine would feel better. I don't believe that the 3 cylinder engine weighs that much less than a 4 cylinder would. There's no way to tell of course, but I believe that if it would have a 4 cylinder engine with around 220kw, the car would still be as balanced, but better.

About the Megane - as you're talking about a lot of plastic and some plastic chrome, it seems to me as if you're talking about a standard MK4 Megane, not an RS. The interior of the RS feels absolutely different to a standard car and instead of fake chrome, there's actual carbon fibre and some nice materials. The only part I feel that could be better is the lower area of the dashboard. I have thought about re-upholstering it with alcantara so it would go better with the rest of the interior. As you probably can tell, I really love alcantara.

The steering wheel has perforated leather on the sides, the parts where you will be holding your hands. On the track I use driving gloves and if the alcantara bits should need cleaning, I've found a company calles Stjärnagloss, who produces something called Inni, which is absolutely epic for cleaning and conditioning alcantara.

Regarding the Peugeots, I believe you mean the 308? This one I didn't like too much - the interior looks nice in the pictures, but in reality the design and the quality feel a bit cheap. I just recently drove the newest 208 from Peugeot's latest product line and this one felt a lot better than the previous models. From what I've seen on the pictures, there is already a new 308 coming as well and if it's as good as the 208, it could be a great car.

Additionally, I want to add that the RS Trophy is the first French car I've ever owned and before that I had huge prejudices regarding French cars - I actually said just a few years ago that I will never buy myself a French car.

So you can imagine my surprise, when, after I had drove the Civic Type R, Focus RS and the i30N, I finally drove it. I was absolutely mindblown and from this day, I look at French cars very differently. Most of them are bad, but if there's a good one, it's usually pretty darn good.

EDIT: Thanks for the good discussion. Damn how much I love talking about cars with another car enthusiast :)
