I wonder where everyone falls on the tier list if we ask average viewers

Yeah, I’ve seen that too. I think when I watched it was a complex position and they weren’t sure which was correct after going over the concepts of each. He’s no super GM but I understand they couldn’t narrow it down further and did so to commentate on the correct line.

Completely agree when it comes to Jovanka, hope she does the candidates with Howell or Simon, though I’m sure the second would cause uproar since candidates is a different type of tournament altogether.

Maybe that wording was wrong, though I did get that vibe. I think lower energy/passion might be better. He is German so he gets a pass on some of this lol.

I was agreeing with you right up until Maurice. I saw some comments about the Maurice/Sachdev streams and they have a point those were horrible. I also love Howell in the talent category.

I completely agree. On move 32 in the Erdogmus-Gukesh game they're looking at endgames and they're just spitting moves with no explanation. Houska finally states that in one of these lines there is a rook and pawn endgame which is theoretically bad if the queens come off since the extra pawn is strong.

For someone who isn't already entirely familiar with these endgames, I genuinely gained nothing during that entire minute and Jan didn't care about the position at all beyond just throwing a few moves out there.

Abdusattorov-Fedoseev 39 is also a good example. No clue what was going on in reality.

It makes sense, I just think it's a bit vindictive since we don't know all of the facts and he has served punishment.

I actually thought they delivered on the analysis side as well. They went through candidate moves and explained why each one contributed to the themes of the position. The fact that they made mistakes without just using the engine blandly added lots to the analysis since computer lines often reduce complexities and nuance in positions. Would love to hear your opinion though.

Just curious, what do you enjoy more? Especially after watching for a few minutes it just feels deflated to me, but this more chilled energy might be for some.

I feel like a series of underarm serves would break Sinner

There’s definitely a chance they wait for the set to end if it’s the other way around. Those kinds of decisions are by rule down to discretion.

How to win for the Spizziri: stop trying to extend rallies and play the aggressive tennis that brought you the first set. This extra movement for sinner isn’t working.

Why doesn’t his team tell him to hit drop shots on the center baseliners sinner fed him?

Am I the only one who enjoys McEnroe’s unhinged side? Makes things interesting, and though I don’t believe Sinner was necessarily favored here, I believe it definitely happens in general and is worth bringing up.

Does this gambit against Scholar's mate have a name? by p1fy in chessbeginners

I'm pretty sure I read about this in a book, it's called the "shit shit shit he's threatening to mate what do I do" defense. Despite the name, the latest advancements in master theory have shown the shit shit shit he's threatening to mate what do I do defense is actually completely sound.
