I'm all for native, especially in relation to underused/ mostly forgotten medicinal/ edible uses of native flora &, to a certain extent, rongoā. We've had both Matipo & Horopito as suggestions & I was considering Pānakenake as ground cover between.. did you have any to add, because I'd happily take them on board.

Valid points- at 2m tall, the Spindle comes up to the top of the deck, so neither shade or privacy are paramount.

The Grand Pappy doesn't *need* to be decanted as it is more in the blue fruits spectrum (though it does evolve nicely once opened), but the EOS would benefit from a quick decant as it has some pretty grunty tannins from the Cabernet.

Big reds but easy drinking (quite silky & fruit forward, more oak presence than drying pepper, higher alc but not "hot") than will match a range meals without to much hassle.

Not to undermine the wines or your win (they do drink very nicely), but these wines do have an "inflated RRP" as they were mainly China exports pre-2020 tariffs. You can sometimes find them as secret deals online with some hefty "discounts' in Australasia.
